This year, Littleton and Englewood residents can visit A1 Organics (2300 W Radcliff Ave, Sheridan, CO) between 10/31 and 11/11 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5. You can now come early on a weekday or on your lunch break to avoid the weekend rush!
There will be a flat $6 drop-off fee, and residents will be allowed to drop off as many leaves as they have for the flat fee.
Why is the city replacing so many sidewalk ramps? ♿
A large majority of the ramps installed at the intersections of Englewood streets do not meet current Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. There are many corners in the city that have never had the required ADA ramps installed.
The city budgets funding in the Public Improvement Fund annually to install ramps that meet current ADA requirements. While current ramps may not be broken or damaged, they do not meet current ADA requirements and require replacement in order to meet current ADA slope and dimension standards including installation of the red truncated dome warning panels.
Water & Sewer Infrastructure Projects
In 2022, the City of Englewood initiated several high-priority projects to address the taste, odor and hardness of our drinking water. These projects include:
- A Taste, Odor & Hardness Study: This study provides a roadmap for operational changes and capital investments that are expected to have a significant impact on water taste and odor over the coming years.
- City Ditch Pipeline: This year, the city initiated the design of a pipeline along the open channel City Ditch. This pipeline will carry water directly from Chatfield Reservoir to the Allen Water Treatment Plant and let us use far less water from the South Platte River. The anticipated completion date is 2025.
- Filter Interface Panel Replacement: The replacement of the Filter Interface Panel (FIP) is a key upgrade that will be completed in early 2023. The FIP monitors and controls the water filtration and backwash processes, which are critical for normal water treatment operations.
- Chemical Phosphorus Removal & UV Disinfection Project: This project is an $18 million investment at South Platte Renew to address the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Regulation 85 nutrient requirements. The goal of Regulation 85 is to reduce nutrient pollution in lakes, rivers and streams. This is required to be met by June 2023. The project is nearly complete and will be operational ahead of the deadline.
EngleFix: Submit a Service Request 🛠️
See something around town that we can fix? Download the EngleFix app and report a concern.
Simply take a photo of whatever is troubling you and send in a request to have it looked into by the city! You can even monitor your request as it makes it to the right people. Available on Google Play and the App Store, or visit englewoodco.gov/englefix to submit a request today!
Volunteers Needed: Snow Buddies
While the snow hasn’t hit yet, we currently have many people in need of snow removal help waiting to be paired with a snow buddy! Snow Buddies is a voluntary program that connects those who need snow removal assistance with volunteers willing to help, organized by the Neighborhood Resources Program.
Snow Buddy Volunteers are expected to shovel their snow buddy's path from the sidewalk to their front door and the public sidewalk in front of their property within 24 hours of a snowfall from November 15-April 1.
