As the COMPAS journey continues, teams across the state are focused on building readiness as they approach the ascent ahead. Significant progress is being made as the project team collaborates with state entities, Central Payroll and HR, Trail Guides, and Trailblazers to prepare COMPAS for its next major milestone.
Read on to learn more about key readiness activities supporting the climb toward COMPAS.
Equipping for the Climb: Labor Distribution Profile Setup
A key phase of preparation is underway as state entities participate in workshops to define their Labor Distribution Profiles (LDPRs). These profiles will replace the accounting templates currently used in CPPS and will serve as the new foundation for allocating labor costs in COMPAS.
Guided by COMPAS Product Owners and Trail Guides who specialize in labor allocation (TG2s), these workshops help entities define LDPRs that support their unique needs while maintaining consistency across the state, equipping each entity with tools they can rely on as COMPAS continues its ascent.
Our next LDPR Workshop takes place on February 19 at 3 p.m. You can add the event directly to your calendar by clicking on the event link on the COMPAS calendar.
Testing the Gear: User Acceptance Testing
Soon, a group of approximately 150 Trailblazers will head out ahead of the main group as User Acceptance Testing (UAT) kicks off. These early adopters will explore COMPAS firsthand, putting the system through its paces much like climbers testing their gear before a major ascent.
Trailblazers will first execute scripted business scenarios to confirm that COMPAS performs as expected under known conditions. They will then test their own real-world business scenarios, helping to ensure the system can support the climb ahead under day-to-day operating conditions.
Trailblazer feedback is invaluable. By testing the gear before it's relied on more broadly, Trailblazers help identify refinements, validate functionality, and strengthen overall readiness – supporting a steadier, more confident climb for all users as COMPAS continues its journey.
Preparing the Climbers: End-User Training
As teams prepare for the climb ahead, training efforts continue to build momentum. Learning Orienteers — peer trainers — have completed their own preparation and are ready to guide COMPAS users through hands-on learning experiences.
Training is tailored to a user’s security role and includes both web-based training (WBT) and virtual instructor-led training (VILT) sessions. WBT provides foundational knowledge, while VILT sessions offer guided instruction to help users gain confidence navigating COMPAS. Completion of WBT is required before participating in VILT sessions, which begin in early February and continue through March.
Together, these training opportunities ensure users are well-equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed for the climb ahead as COMPAS becomes part of daily operations.
The COMPAS team is hosting study hall sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday at 11a.m. for impacted end users to get additional support or ask questions about the training content.
