COMPAS Runs Its First Payroll
Great News! On June 5, the COMPAS Implementation Team successfully ran its first payroll calculation in COMPAS! The calculation was based on the CPPS 901 adjustment payroll run from January 2025 and included six employees. Pay was calculated for all six people. The payroll calculation matched exactly for two of the employees. For four employees, the gross pay matched but taxes and other deductions were different. One difference is that COMPAS withheld taxes on all checks, but CPPS did not in cases where the adjustment checks were smaller amounts compared to a normal paycheck. The project team is analyzing the reasons behind these and other differences. The COMPAS Team set the bar for payroll accuracy very high: in early testing we want the gross payroll amount between CPPS and COMPAS to match within $0.05 for 95%+ of individuals! So, we have more work to do. But for now, we are celebrating this major milestone which proves that while payroll modernization is challenging, we have what it takes to get it done! Next up the COMPAS Implementation Team will tackle more complicated scenarios like biweekly and monthly payroll runs.
