Dillon Marina Opening for Summer Memorial Day Weekend

The Dillon Marina is preparing to open for the 2026 summer season on Saturday, May 23, just in time for Memorial Day weekend, and staff are excited to welcome boaters, visitors, and slip holders back to the Dillon Reservoir for another memorable season on the water.

Boat rentals, kayak and paddle board rentals at Stand Up Paddle Colorado, marina retail shop and office, and the launch ramp will all be open for the season. Whether you’re heading out on the lake, launching your boat, grabbing a drink by the water, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, we can’t wait to see you back at the marina.

While the marina is gearing up for a busy and exciting season, visitors should be aware of several operational updates and changes related to ongoing drought conditions and fluctuating reservoir levels.

Summer Operations Updates and Reminders

Dock Access and Seawall Safety

Dock access at Dillon Marina will look a little different this summer as changing water levels may leave some gangways resting directly on the shoreline. Boaters and visitors should plan for longer access times and, in some cases, what staff are calling “long walks on the beach” to reach their vessels.

Conditions along the marina are expected to vary throughout the season, and extra caution is advised—especially near the seawall. Visitors are encouraged to allow additional time, wear appropriate footwear, and stay alert while navigating the area.

Dock Work and Marina Improvements

Slip holders and visitors should expect ongoing dock work and anchor installation throughout the season. These improvements are critical to maintaining safe and functional marina infrastructure amid changing water conditions.

Increased Traffic at Launch Ramp and Parking Areas

This summer, Dillon Marina will serve as the only launch ramp and aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspection site on the reservoir. As a result, visitors should expect increased boating traffic at the launch ramp and longer wait times, particularly during weekends and holidays. The marina parking lot and marina yard will also be heavily utilized, including storage for large sailboats participating in regattas and slip holders. Parking may be limited, and visitors are encouraged to carpool and arrive early whenever possible.

Courtesy Dock Changes

The amphitheater dock will not be installed this summer and will instead be relocated to the launch ramp to improve efficiency for those launching boats. Additionally, courtesy docking at Frisco Bay Marina will not be available for boaters visiting from Dillon.

Pump-Out Services

Due to water levels and operational power requirements, the pump-out barge may not be deployed this season. As a result, pump-out services may be unavailable this year, and boaters are encouraged to plan ahead.

Regattas and Sailing Activity

The Dillon Marina is excited to host several regattas this summer, including the Dillon Open Regatta in August. Etchells and other large sailboats will require use of the loader for launching and retrieval at the ramp, as the blue crane will be inoperable this summer. Sailors are encouraged to coordinate with marina staff in advance.

Visitor Reminders

Visitors should expect heavier traffic throughout the summer, especially on weekends and holidays. Marina staff encourage guests to arrive early, allow extra time for launching and parking, and follow all staff directions.

“Our team is meeting regularly to plan, adapt, and problem-solve,” Marina Director Craig Simson shared. “Despite the challenges, we’re committed to a safe and successful season and look forward to seeing everyone on the water.”
