Ice Melt Contest Underway!
It's that time of year! The ice melt device was deployed on March 4 with help from the Summit County Sheriffs Office and the Dillon Marina. The Ice Melt Contest is one of the Summit Rotary's flagship fundraisers. Locals, visitors, and other astute guessers predict the exact time the device will drop into the thawed reservoir. The winning guess will receive a cash prize. All entries must be received by midnight on April 14.

Winter Driving
Winter is far from over here in the high country and historically we've seen some of our biggest snow storms in March and April. Whether you’re a native, a new resident, or a tourist, driving in Colorado winter weather can be dangerous if you’re not prepared.
The unexpected can happen when snow and ice are on the road — take extra precautions to prepare you and your vehicle for winter road conditions.

Lake Loops Are Now Closed For The Season
The Lake Loops are now closed for the 2025 season. We want to thank everyone who came out to enjoy the Lake Loops this year. It’s been wonderful seeing the community take advantage of this free amenity—whether for skiing, walking, running, biking, or simply enjoying the scenic views. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm and look forward to welcoming you back next year. Until then, please use caution around the reservoir as variable conditions exist.
Dillon Marina Launch Ramp Reconstruction Project Begins
The existing concrete Boat Ramp at the Dillon Marina has failed and needs to be replaced. At the Regular Council Meeting on February 11, 2025, Dillon Town Council approved a contract with Columbine Hills Construction for the 2025 Marina Boat Ramp Project. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of the month.
The proposed Marina Boat Ramp Reconstruction project includes the following elements:
- Sawcut and remove the existing concrete boat ramp.
- Install a new reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer to redirect the runoff from the end of the storm sewer system to the south of the boat ramp.
- Over-excavate down 32" and haul off existing materials.
- Install separation fabric between existing subgrade materials at the bottom of the excavation and imported road base materials.
- Install 18” of aggregate road base and install an additional layer of separation fabric on top of the road base layer.
- Install 6” section of crushed rock for drainage beneath the concrete slab.
- Install concrete boat ramp with standard 1” V-Notch traction grooving.
- The boat ramp will include a 10’ wide kayak/paddleboard ramp with a smaller ½” v notch groove on the outside of the boat ramp. This will help separate boat traffic from the other users of the lake.
- Install riprap on all sides of the exterior perimeter of the new boat ramp.
