This week’s Bulletin features an update regarding a temporary pause of Division advisory groups, the launch of the Colorado Digital Disability Passport for Disability Pride Month, a welcome to the new Fiscal Year, an overview of the historic America 250 and Colorado 150 celebrations, and an announcement regarding our Independence Day office closure.
Temporary Pause of Division Advisory Groups: The Division is temporarily pausing all advisory group activities. This pause allows us to review each group’s legal authority, governance, and operational alignment. We are also evaluating the differences between formal and informal structures to ensure proper oversight and alignment with current laws. This pause does not apply to the Communication Services for People with Disabilities Enterprise Board. It also does not apply to the Colorado Department of Human Services’ Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Advisory Council. For more information on this temporary pause - read the memo we sent out to current advisory councils (Google Doc). Once again, this pause is temporary and we fully intend to resume advisory group activities once we receive clarity. We deeply value the input and lived experiences of our community members as they are essential to the work we do!

Celebrate Disability Pride Month with the Colorado Digital Disability Passport: The Colorado Disability Opportunity Office (CDOO) is gearing up for a statewide celebration this July to honor Disability Pride Month! Now that July is here, CDOO is excited to introduce the Colorado Digital Disability Passport. You can check out the Interactive Colorado Disability Passport Map to explore incredible historical landmarks and find disability-owned businesses to support across the state. CDOO needs your help to grow this wonderful resource! They are actively looking for more disability-focused spots to feature. If you have a favorite local disability-owned business or an important historic site in mind, please take a moment to nominate it using the CDOO Landmark and Business Nomination Form and help celebrate the rich history and vibrant contributions of Colorado's disability community.
Welcoming the New Fiscal Year: This week marked the official start of State Fiscal Year 2027 on July 1st! The turn of the fiscal year is an important milestone for our state programs and services as we reset our annual goals and funding allocations. The Division remains dedicated to building on the achievements of past years, improving our communication access initiatives, expanding our programs and services, and expanding our outreach across Colorado. We look forward to another year of collaborative partnerships, community growth, and impactful progress!
Celebrate America 250 and Colorado 150: Get ready for a massive historic milestone! As the United States prepares to celebrate 250 years as a nation and Colorado marks 150 years of statehood, our state is gearing up for an incredible "250-150" celebration. There are many fun ways to join in on the history, culture, and community spirit. You can participate in a nationwide reading of the Declaration of Independence, share a dish at America's Potluck, gaze at the stars during a dark sky party, check out local stories at the Colorado 150 Film Festival, or even bike across the state!
