This week’s bulletin features a job opportunity with CHIP and the official launch of our 2026 Grant Program.  2026 Grant Program Launch: We are pleased to announce that the 2026 grant application process is now open! This program provides up to $50,000 in funding for eligible organizations to address priorities of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities. Grant priorities include: community planning to improve coordination and access to services, start-up programs that the state lacks, support for existing services and programs, and other projects that meet the overall purpose of the grant program. To streamline the process and add oversight and transparency, applications are now handled through the state’s procurement system via a Request for Applications (RFA). You can apply for any amount up to $35,000. For more information, check out our grant program.  Disability Rights Workshop Series: Our friends at Atlantis Community, Inc., are hosting free workshops to help you learn more about your rights. These sessions feature experts who discuss important topics like service animals and discrimination. Every workshop is hybrid, so you can attend in person at 201 S. Cherokee Street in Denver or join virtually through Zoom. ASL interpretation is provided for all sessions and RTD or Access-a-Ride passes are available for those attending in person. There are two sessions coming up in May. On May 14 from 2-4 PM, the topic is service animal rights and responsibilities. On May 19 from 1-3 PM, the topic is general ADA rights and discrimination. There is also a final session on June 1 regarding disability rights in education. You can join any of these workshops online at this link. Job Opportunity for Colorado Home Inclusion Program (CHIP) Coordinator: As a member of the Colorado Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (COEHDI) ecosystem, the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) oversees early intervention efforts for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. Currently, they are looking for a dedicated, part-time CHIP Coordinator to serve the Denver Metro area. This vital role acts as the central point of contact for families with children from birth to age three who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The Coordinator helps families navigate early intervention services, provides unbiased resources on language development, and offers support during those crucial early years. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field, along with five years of relevant experience. Some Good News: Our team had a fantastic time seeing everyone at the Colorado Deaf Festival to celebrate Deaf culture and share valuable resources with many community members. We also enjoyed connecting with everyone who attended the latest Connections Hour. These outreach events are a highlight for our staff because they allow us to spend one-on-one time with community members. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat and make these events such a success!
