Welcome to this week’s Bulletin - your quick source for Division updates, events, and opportunities.
Award Nominations Update: The Commission gave two awards honoring members of our Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (DHHDB) communities: the Lynda Remmel Award (est. 2023) for elite, ethical interpreting and the Susan J. Elliott Award (est. 2008) for lifelong community advocacy. Both awards celebrate leaders who, like their namesakes, have "raised the bar" for Colorado’s DHHDB communities. While the nomination process typically begins around this time of the year, the process is currently on hold as we work to transition the Commission to an Enterprise with the Division, Enterprise Board, and Commission Advisory Council. Once completed, we will announce a new nominations timeline.

Program Manager Announcement: Meet our new Program Manager, Neal Tucker! With a dedication to accessibility and impact, he will oversee four of the Division’s programs: Colorado Early Hearing Detection and Intervention, Communication Access Services, Communications Technology Access Programs, and DeafBlind Programs. In his free time, Neal enjoys volunteering for various organizations, running, playing tennis, skiing, hiking, camping, reading all genres, trying new restaurants, and traveling whenever he can!

Calling All Artists! We are refreshing our look and branding to SENSE Colorado. We want our brand-new logo to be designed by someone within our Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (DHHDB) communities! We are seeking a talented artist or graphic designer to help us create a logo. We want a visual identity that reflects the multi-sensory experiences of the communities we serve—honoring how we see, touch, and hear the world around us. The Statewide Equity Office Seeks Committee Members: The Statewide Equity Office (SEO) is looking for State of Colorado employees and community members to join their ongoing advisory committees, known as Communities of Practice. This isn't just a survey; the SEO is looking for active members to join working groups focused on Accessibility, Internal Strategy, External Strategy, or Supplier Diversity (Construction and Goods & Services). By sharing your real-life and professional experiences, you can help guide their goals and ensure their work truly supports the people of Colorado. To thank you for your time, community members (non-state employees) will be paid for participating. Please explore the current initiatives on the community engagement page and submit your Statewide Community of Practice Application by Thursday, April 30. If you experience any issues filling out the application, please contact dpa_statewideequityoffice@state.co.us.
 Help Shape the Future of Aviation Safety: Accessible travel is a right, not a privilege. To improve safety standards, the FAA is currently collecting feedback on aircraft evacuations from travelers with disabilities. By sharing your experiences, you can help ensure that federal safety protocols account for the communication and navigation needs of our community.
