WfBC Recognized as Apprenticeship Month Partnership Awards Recipient

Workforce Boulder County, in partnership with Boulder Chamber, Front Range Community College, Boulder Community Health, and Boulder Medical Center, has been recognized as Colorado Department of Labor and Employment's Apprenticeship Month Partnership Award recipient. 

In 2019, Boulder Community Health partnered with Boulder Chamber, Front Range Community College and Workforce Boulder County with the vision of building a Learn-as-You-Earn Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program that would provide career opportunities for Boulder County residents. In early 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, WfBC helped the partnership engage with Medical Assistant apprentices, including virtual one-on-one career coaching sessions, creating individualized employment plans, and providing any specific supportive services.

This apprenticeship program is helping to shape the future staff and leaders within the healthcare field within Boulder County. COResponds: Recovery Work as a Main Focus for WfBC

COVID-19 has significantly impacted not only the health of individuals and families, but also of the national economy through mass layoffs and drastic changes to the way everyone works. Because of this, WfBC is working hard on getting our local Boulder County economy back to where it was through one of our recovery programs: COResponds. WfBC's outstanding Business Services team is busy working one-on-one with local businesses, organizations, and government agencies to set up temporary employment and subsidized employment positions. Some of these positions include: Boulder County Public Health Contact Tracers Case Investigators Resource Navigators Boulder County Housing and Human Services  COVID-19 Housing Helpline Resource Advocates Boulder County Assessor Data Technicians To find out more about about these positions or if you are a business wanting to be a temporary employment site or internship site, feel free to email a Business Service Representative at wfbiz@bouldercounty.org.

Unemployment Insurance Updates

ALERT | 11.13.2020 | 3:10 p.m. Per Governor Polis’ executive order, we will be issuing a one-time stimulus payment of $375 to eligible claimants. You do not need to contact us or take any action in order to receive this payment. We will be directly contacting all eligible claimants. For more information, visit cdle.colorado.gov/Polis-Stimulus-Payment. First payments will be distributed starting December. All extensions are scheduled to end on 12/26/2020.

Boulder County Moves to Level Red - Public Health Guidelines Update

Boulder County moved to the revised Level Red on Friday, November 20, 2020. The updated dial and the new capacity limits under this “Level Red: Severe Risk” can be found here.

Counties in the Red Level (BOULDER COUNTY’S LEVEL ON FRIDAY) are considered at severe risk and will be subject to updated restrictions, including:

• Indoor dining is temporarily closed. Restaurants and coffee shops can still offer takeout and delivery, and they can offer outdoor dining with a last call at 8 p.m., but only to customers in groups with members of their own household. Bars remain closed.  
• Gyms can operate at 10% capacity or allow up to 10 people per room with reservations. They can also operate outdoors in groups of up to 10 people.
• Group Sports and Camps can operate virtual, or outdoors in groups less than 10.
• In-person personal gatherings are not permitted. 
• All gatherings between households of any size in any location, public or private should not be taking place while your county is in the severe risk phase.
• Offices can operate at 10% capacity, but remote work is strongly encouraged.
• Non-Critical Manufacturing can operate at 25% or 50 (whichever is fewer).
• All at-risk populations are recommended to stay at home.
• Limited Healthcare and Personal Services continue to operate at 25% or 25 (whichever is fewer).
• Critical and Non Critical Retail can operate at 50% capacity with increased curbside pickup and delivery. Dedicated senior and at-risk hours encouraged.
• Indoor Unseated and Seated Events / Entertainment are closed.  Outdoor Unseated and Seated Events limited to 25% or 75 people (with calculator), attended only with members of your own household and 6ft between groups.
• Outdoor Guided Services and Entertainment can operate at 25% capacity or 10 people (whichever is fewer).
• Places of Worship can operate under the Level Orange levels.
