Ramey Homestead Black Walnut Woodworking Opportunity

Woodworkers are invited to request wood to use for an upcoming woodworking exhibit

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space has black walnut wood available for woodworkers to claim for art creation. Parks & Open Space will hold a woodworking exhibit in October 2020 at The Great Frame Up Longmont and is offering woodworkers an opportunity to work with unique wood and have the woodworking creations considered for display at the exhibit.

Woodworkers of all skill levels are invited to request wood to use to create works of functional and folk art, turned bowls and vases, furniture, and wood sculptures from recently harvested wood from the Ramey Homestead’s large black walnut tree. The tree succumbed to Thousand Cankers Disease and was removed for safety reasons.

Interested woodworkers need to submit a request for wood by Feb. 27. Visit www.BoulderCountyOpenSpace.org/woodworking to schedule a wood collection appointment on either Thursday, March 14 between 8 a.m.-noon or Tuesday, April 2 between 1-5 p.m.
