Spanish Nutrition Counseling Now Available!
We are pleased to announce our new Spanish-language nutrition education workshops and individualized counseling. The first classes will be: March 15, 9:30 - 11 a.m. March 24, 2 - 4 p.m. To register for a class or to receive individualized nutrition guidance, call 303-441-3910. More Service, More Choice
Our new In-Home Service Voucher Program provides in-home personal care and homemaking services to eligible older adults in Boulder County. For this new program, we’ve partnered with nine local in-home service agencies. This will allow clients to have a choice of providers while at the same time covering gaps in service for those applying for public benefits. Eligibility for the program is based on a skills assessment conducted by our staff and other trained professionals. On January 25th, more than 50 older adults from the Lyons community participated in a brainstorming session to create a future vision for senior services in Lyons. The information gathered will help inform future activities and programs in the town, as well as add a rural perspective to the Age Well Boulder County strategic plan. Our Respite and Companion Volunteer Program (RCVP) matches volunteers with older adults who are experiencing isolation or some degree of compromised health. For two hours a week, volunteers provide companionship to older adults who live alone or with a family caregiver. For Emily, a current RCVP volunteer, it took time to build rapport with her program partner. Their first visits were quiet and reserved, so every week Emily tried different activities and topics to encourage conversation. On one visit, Emily played some of her partner’s favorite music – the rest was history! Her partner lit up and a connection was forged.
