Fire Ban for Western Boulder County Rescinded
Moisture and a favorable forecast bring relief
Boulder County, Colo.-- At 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015, Sheriff Joe Pelle rescinded the fire ban that had been in effect since September 22, 2015 for western Boulder County.
The current weather pattern and predicted future weather conditions have offered relief to the warm, dry September. Both short and long term forecast models indicate a return to normal fall weather conditions. In addition, local fuels and fire conditions are stabilizing back to normal averages. There has been limited national, state and local fire activity, so firefighting resources are available for immediate response in the event of a fire start up.
Citizens are cautioned to remain diligent when burning. There is still a requirement to obtain a permit prior to burning (slash or broadcast burns). Permits are available on line at http://www.bouldercounty.org/safety/fire/pages/openburnpermit.aspx or in person at the Sheriff's Headquarters, 5600 Flatiron Parkway, Boulder, CO 80301. Agricultural burns and campfires are exempt from the permit requirement.
