Update on the Search for a Missing Hiker in Eldorado Springs
The search continues into a third day for David Robles, 53, of Boulder, who failed to return as planned from a hike in Eldorado Canyon on Saturday, September 5th.
Boulder County, Colo.-- At 7:00 a.m. this morning, search and rescue efforts resumed for a third day for David Robles, 53, of Boulder. Mr. Robles was originally reported to the Sheriff's Office as an overdue hiker on Saturday, September 5th, at 6:00 p.m., when he failed to return as planned from a day hike in Eldorado Canyon State Park in Eldorado Springs, just south of Boulder.
Search efforts were launched Saturday night, and continued throughout the day Sunday. Mr. Robles' car was found parked in Eldorado Canyon State Park on Saturday evening when the original search was launched, and remains there today. Beyond locating Mr. Robles' car, no leads or information have been developed as to what trail he may have been hiking.
The search and rescue efforts are being coordinated by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office's Emergency Services Unit. Assisting in today's search are members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Alpine Search & Rescue, Arapahoe Search and Rescue, Larimer County Search & Rescue, Front Range Rescue Dogs, and Colorado State Parks.
A total of seven search teams, comprised of 44 rescue personnel, and 3 dog teams are currently deployed in today's search efforts. The main focus of today's search area are the primary hiking trail systems in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
Mr. Robles is described as 5'10" tall, with a light build and dark brown hair. It is unknown what clothing Mr. Robles wore hiking on Saturday, or if he was prepared to be outdoors overnight. A recent photograph of Mr. Robles is attached to this release.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may have seen or spoken to Mr. Robles in the area, or has any information as to his whereabouts, to please contact us immediately at (303) 441-4444.
