Secure Print Release

The copiers in the main copy centers on each floor have a new printing feature installed called Secure Print Release. Here’s how it works:  In a standard printing environment, a user’s print jobs are sent directly to a printer for immediate printing. This sometimes results in wasted paper and toner when print jobs are forgotten and not collected. It can also present a security risk if those forgotten jobs contain sensitive information. Secure Print Release places print jobs in a holding state until the user authenticates and releases the job at the copier using their ID badge. Users may also select individual jobs to release, or have jobs automatically print after successful authentication.

Wireless Access

The new building offers the broadest Wi-Fi coverage to employees of any building in the County. With a total of 35 wireless access points installed throughout the space, staff can access the Boulder County Wi-Fi network from any meeting room, break room or public space- even the pocket park on the south side of the building. Having Wi-Fi access anywhere you need it gives employees greater flexibility to move around the building to meet with clients, check e-mail, or simply enjoy the amenity spaces the site has to offer.

Technology Training

Boulder County IT will conduct several informal technology training sessions/Q&A on unpacking day, August 24th. Topics include the new Evoko Room Manager devices and Secure Print Release. Instructional handouts will also be provided and posted on the Onboarding site. Stay tuned for additional information.

Evokos

Evoko Room Managers

Evoko Room Manager displays will be installed on the walls outside of the meeting rooms to help optimize room scheduling efficiency. Whenever you schedule a meeting room in Outlook, your room reservation will automatically sync with the Evoko Room Manager device. Rooms can also be booked (or canceled) directly on the screens outside each meeting room. Key room information is displayed on the panel, such as current time, start time, and finish time of the meeting in progress. The touch sensitive screen glows green when the room is available, so you can quickly see from a distance which rooms may be open for use.

sound masking

Sound Masking

Sound masking introduces a spectrum of noise which gently raises the ambient background sound in order to cover, or mask, speech. Speech privacy is achieved by raising the noise level to a point that makes conversations unintelligible. Audible distractions are minimized through the quality and range of the sound produced.

Imagine sitting in a quiet library; now imagine someone talking, or tapping a pen. Think how intrusive even quiet whispering can be in this setting- the sound will break your concentration. Now imagine sitting at the beach. The beach is a restful place; a place where it’s easy to collect your thoughts. The beach, however, compared to the library, is a place with lots of sound. The ocean waves are a wonderful background sound that creates an environment that is not only comfortable, but a place where sounds around you appear to disappear. The ocean is a natural sound masking system, with waves generally louder than the other surrounding noises. It masks the sounds around you as you sit on the beach.
