CDFW’s 2026 Conservation and Mitigation Banking Guidelines are Available
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has released the 2026 Conservation and Mitigation Banking Guidelines (Guidelines). It is posted on CDFW's Conservation and Mitigation Banking web page. The Guidelines is an update to the 2014 Guidelines and helps implement CDFW’s Conservation and Mitigation Banking program.
CDFW is hosting a public webinar (webinar registration) on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM to present these changes and address questions. We look forward to seeing you at the webinar. If you are unable to attend, a recorded version of the presentation will be available upon request.
For bank agreement packages and bank amendment package submittals, Bank Sponsors must incorporate the new Guidelines by July 1, 2026. All bank agreement and bank amendment packages submitted and already under review will be reviewed under the previous Guidelines. Comments and feedback on draft prospectuses and prospectuses will incorporate the new guidelines by July 1, 2026 as well.
