Below are the latest updates for the San Ramon community.
Contra Costa County Tier Metrics
This week, Contra Costa County remains in the purple tier in the State of California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy. As of March 11, the County Metrics include: 8.7 new daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents (with an adjusted case rate of 7.3 for tier assignment), a 2.6% test positivity rate (7-day average), and 4.3% health equity quartile positivity rate.
For Contra Costa County to move to the red tier, the following three criteria must be met for two consecutive weeks:
- Case Rate: Less than 7 new cases per 100,000 residents
- Positivity Rate: Less than 8% of tests countywide are positive
- Equity Metric: Less than 8% of tests for residents of the lowest quartile of the Healthy Places Index census tracts are positive
Last week, the State of California announced a Vaccine Equity Metric, which could enable counties to move tiers faster, based on the number of vaccines administered to residents in the State’s hardest-hit communities. To date, 1.9 million vaccine doses have been administered in these areas.
- Once that number hits 2 million statewide, the requirement for counties to move from the purple tier to the red tier will be loosened: the case rate can be up to 10 cases per 100,000 residents, instead of 4 to 7 cases per 100,000 residents.
- Once 4 million doses have been administered in hardest-hit communities, counties can move from the red tier to the orange tier by reporting 2 to 5.9 cases per 100,000 residents, instead of 1 to 3.9 cases per 100,000 residents.
- The metrics of each tier must be met for two weeks before advancing to the next tier. Once in a tier, a county must remain there for three weeks before advancing to the next.

Vaccine Appointment Information
Since vaccines became available in mid-December, more than 250,000 people – nearly 28% of the population in Contra Costa County ages 16 and up – have already received at least one dose.
The County’s weekly supply of vaccine from the State remains flat while the number of people on the waiting list for appointments is growing. For most who request appointments, it will take several weeks to receive an appointment.
There are several ways to find a vaccine appointment, and at this point in time, the County recommends signing up everywhere you can, and after scheduling an appointment, canceling your requests elsewhere.
1. MyTurn
Register with the State of California at myturn.ca.gov to be notified when you are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
2. Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS)
CCHS will immunize all eligible residents whether they have insurance or not. Vaccine supply is currently limited, and it may take several weeks to receive an appointment.
Eligible residents who have difficulty using the form or have no internet access can request an appointment by calling 1-833-829-2626.
3. Your Healthcare Provider
Healthcare systems have different eligibility requirements for COVID-19 vaccinations, and many healthcare providers are directly contacting eligible patients to schedule vaccine appointments.
Information about local providers—including Contra Costa Regional Medical Center & Health Centers, John Muir Health, Kaiser Permanente, La Clinica, Lifelong Medical, and Sutter Health—can be found by visiting the CCHS Vaccine page and scrolling down.
4. Partner Sites
Pharmacies and other providers have different eligibility requirements for COVID-19 vaccinations. Information about each of these providers can be found by visiting the CCHS Vaccine page and scrolling down. To request an appointment, visit the links below.

San Ramon Walking District Master Plan Community Webinar: Watch Recording
The City has embarked on a process to develop a Walking District Master Plan for San Ramon’s City Core. Originating from a grassroots effort, this framework plan aims to define the location of walking and biking loops and enhance wayfinding and placemaking guidelines for the routes and signage in and around the city core.
On March 3, the City hosted a community webinar to share more information about the project and hear residents' insights on how to improve the walkability of San Ramon’s City Core. To view a recording of the webinar, and learn more about the Walking District, visit the link below.
