Wildfire Community Preparedness Day will be observed May 4, 2024 with a fun and engaging event at Lake Solano Park

Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

Wildfire preparedness is a measure all residents can take to be ready for the next fire.

The public plays a valuable role in preventing wildfires, whether it is properly extinguishing a campfire or keeping vehicles maintained to prevent sparks. In addition, preparing properties by creating defensible space and planning for evacuations are important actions residents can do themselves.

While we may not always be able to prevent the next natural disaster from occurring, we can take measures to protect ourselves and our property from the threat of wildfire.

That is why the Solano County Board of Supervisors has observed May as Wildfire Awareness Month and May 4, 2024, as Wildfire Community Preparedness Day.

The Solano County Fire Safe Council and its partners will host a wildfire preparedness event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at Lake Solano Park to kick-off wildfire prevention season. The event will feature resources to help residents protect their homes and families against wildfires as well as demonstrations and outdoor activities for the entire family.

Lake Solano Park is located at 8685 Pleasants Valley Road. The event will be held in the day-use picnic area and fees are waived for this special event. Please note that pets are not allowed on park grounds.
