LNU Listening Session

The past several months have presented some extreme challenges.  For many of you, the events surrounding the LNU Lightning Complex Fire tested your strength more than a person should ever have to be tested.  We know there were narrow escapes, tragic losses, confusion, and frustration.  As leaders in your community, we want to hear from you, understand your unique perspectives, and ensure that your experiences and observations are used in ways that allow us to learn, adapt, and do better.

Our goal is to make sure that we learn from the challenges faced in this emergency and improve our systems.  With this as a driving force, we invite you to join a small, virtual gathering of community members in Solano County impacted by the LNU fire.  Our team has scheduled Community Listening Sessions with the objective of hearing your voices, identifying gaps in our emergency systems, and understanding what you would like to see change for future incidents.  There are two sessions from which to choose (dates below)—we will add additional dates if the demand requires it. County leadership involved in the fire response and recovery will be on the call to listen to the community. We have a  facilitator to help optimize the discussion, but the primary focus is to hear from you.  The questions will include:

  • What do you want your elected and local leaders to know about your experience with the LNU Lightning Complex Fire?
  • What worked well – either in “the system” or in your own personal preparedness?
  • There will be a next time – what do you hope “next time” will look like?

After the listening sessions have been completed, we will gather your stories, feedback, and ideas and build our next steps for taking action.  We will consider your suggestions, identify short- and long-term goals, find paths to explore, and plan for meaningful changes in how we navigate, communicate, and prepare for future emergencies.
