County Crop Report Shows Growth in 2024 Agriculture
San Mateo County’s agricultural production reached $106.5 million in 2024, a 7.6 percent increase over the previous year, the county’s highest total since 2019. The boost was largely driven by a 38 percent surge in livestock value, according to the annual Agricultural Crop Report presented to the Board of Supervisors by Koren Widdel, agricultural commissioner/sealer of weights and measures. Officials credited the growth to local support programs and favorable weather, underscoring agriculture’s vital role in the county’s economy, heritage and community.
