County of San Mateo Board Meeting Update: Jan. 7, 2025

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person with remote public participation available via Zoom on Jan. 7, 2025. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:

SWEARING-IN-CEREMONY

  • Supervisor-Elect Jackie Speier, First District
  • Supervisor-Elect Lisa Gauthier, Fourth District

The Board of Supervisors welcomed District One Supervisor Jackie Speier and District Four Supervisor Lisa Gauthier to the Board after a swearing-in ceremony. See Swearing-in-Ceremony, Item No. 1 for more information.

MATTERS SET FOR SPECIFIED TIME

  • Reorganization of the Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors selected District Five Supervisor David Canepa as president and District Two Supervisor Noelia Corzo as vice-president. See Matters Set for Specified Time, Item No. 2, for more information.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY

  • Adopt a resolution to adjust the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Schedule of Fees set forth by County Ordinance 2.90.030 to increase the current recording fee on certain real estate instruments from $3 to $6.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 11, for more information.

GOVERNING BOARD

  • Acting as the Governing Board of the Public Authority:
  • A) Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with San Mateo Community Health Authority, dba Health Plan of San Mateo, to provide health benefits to independent providers of the In-Home Supportive Services program for the term of January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025, in an amount not to exceed $9,500,000; and
  • B) Authorizing an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $1,338,341 from unanticipated intergovernmental revenue to cover the projected increase in independent providers’ health premiums.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution and authorize the ATR. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 12, for more information.
