New Provider Directory for Patients

Imagine you are assigned a new primary care provider or specialist. Wouldn’t it be nice to look them up in a directory to learn more about them? We are implementing Epic’s new provider directory called Provider Finder so patients can learn more about the providers they are assigned to, including their credentials, where they went to school, what languages they speak, what their clinical interests are and their approach to care. A provider bio and photo can help patients start to build a relationship with their provider, which can lead to a better health partnership. Our Provider Finder will start with primary care providers, dentists, and specialists. Prepared for EHR Downtime

As we get closer to November 2, we are all focused on Epic “go-live.” Meanwhile, there’s a team working on preparing us in the event of a downtime after we launch Epic. Downtime is any time when normal access to the EHR is interrupted for a significant period, affecting a user's ability to perform their work or document patient care.

What we generally refer to as downtime Epic calls BCA or Business Continuity Access. A BCA plan helps us ensure the continuity of care and operations in the event of a downtime. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Provider Personalization in Epic

Industry data shows that providers who personalize their EHR view are three times as likely to be satisfied with the EHR as compared to providers who do not complete personalization. That’s why SMC Health took Epic’s recommendation to make User Settings Labs (USL) required for go-live.

Starting on September 30, and throughout the month of October, we are holding multiple 2-hour USL sessions and virtual officer hours to help providers apply personalization to their view of orders, notes, and more, which can help them work more efficiently in Epic. CLICK HERE to learn more.
