The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person with remote public participation available via Zoom on Sept. 10, 2024. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:
COUNTY EXECUTIVE
- Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief Equity Officer or designee(s) to accept the grant award from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to advance equity initiatives in the County Office of Racial and Social Justice for the term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, in the amount of $490,000.
- Adopt a resolution:
- A) Declaring the Board of Supervisors’ intent to purchase the real property described as 1717, 1725 and 1731 S. El Camino Real, located within the City of San Mateo, San Mateo County Assessor’s Parcel Numbers 035-219-150, 035-219-140 and 035-219-170, respectively, (“Property”), for the total purchase price of $7,000,000; and
- B) Authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a Real Estate Purchase and Sale Agreement (“Agreement”) with the owners of the Property, 1707 S. El Camino Real, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, (“Sellers”), for the County’s acquisition of the Property; and
- C) Authorizing the County Executive, or their designee, to execute a Certificate of Acceptance upon satisfaction of certain conditions in escrow, to be recorded with the Grant Deed transferring title to the Property to the County, as well as any and all notices, escrow instructions, and documents required to facilitate the purposes of the Agreement.
HOUSING
- Adopt a resolution:
- A) Representing and certifying that if the County of San Mateo Department of Housing (“DOH”) receives an award of Local Housing Trust Fund (“LHTF”) Program funds from the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2018 (“Proposition 1”) from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (the “Department”) pursuant to the July 9, 2024 Local Housing Trust Fund Notice of Funding Availability (“LHTF NOFA”) that DOH will use all such funds on Eligible Projects in a manner consistent and in compliance with all applicable state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and laws, including without limitation all rules and laws regarding the LHTF Program, as well as any and all contracts DOH may have with the Department (“Eligible Projects’); and
- B) Authorizing and directing DOH to act as manager in connection with the Department’s funds to Eligible Projects pursuant to the LHTF NOFA in an amount not to exceed $5,000,000 (the “LHTF Award”); and
- C) Representing and certifying that DOH agrees to match on a dollar for dollar basis the LHTF Award pursuant to Guidelines Section 104 and to utilize matching funds on a dollar for dollar basis for the same Eligible Projects for which Program Funds are used, as required by HSC Section 50843.5(c) and as described in Attachment 1 to the Resolution; and
- D) Representing and certifying that pursuant to Attachment 1 to the Resolution and the certification in this resolution, the LHTF funds shall be expended only for Eligible Projects and consistent with all program requirements; and
- E) Representing and warranting that DOH shall be subject to the terms and conditions as specified in the LHTF Standard Agreement, Section 50842.2 of the California Health and Safety Code and LHTF Program Guidelines, and
- F) Authorizing DOH Director, or designee, in consultation with the County Attorney, to execute the LHTF Program Application, the LHTF Standard Agreement and any subsequent amendments or modifications thereto, as well as any other documents which are related to the LHTF Program or the LHTF grant awarded to DOH, as the Department may deem appropriate.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
- Adopt a resolution to establish “Let San Mateo County Vote Week” as the second week of October each year, beginning in 2024, to encourage voting and civic engagement across San Mateo County.
- Adopt a resolution urging Congress to prioritize and expedite the enactment of legislation requiring social media companies to include warning labels on their platforms.
 Videos are generally made available the same day as the board meeting unless delayed due to technical issues.
