The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person with remote public participation available via Zoom on March 12, 2024. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
- Recommendation to:
- A) Receive testimony from representative of Pacific Bell Telephone Company d/b/a AT&T California (“AT&T“) regarding AT&T’s recent applications to the California Public Utilities Commission and consider possible County actions to address emergency preparedness in the unincorporated area, including the coastside; and
- B) Consider whether further steps are needed to obtain additional information and direct staff with respect to such steps, with such steps potentially including to adopt a resolution authorizing and directing the President of the Board of Supervisors to issue to AT&T a Subpoena on behalf of the Board of Supervisors; and
- C) If determined necessary by the Board of Supervisors, adopt a resolution authorizing and directing the President of the Board of Supervisors to issue to Pacific Bell Telephone Company d/b/a AT&T California a Subpoena on behalf of the Board of Supervisors to provide testimony and produce documents at a hearing to study actions the County might take to address emergency preparedness in the unincorporated areas of the County, including the coastside, that will be held on March 26, 2024 at 1 p.m. or as soon thereafter as is reasonable.
The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to provide direction to the County Attorney's Office to draft a resolution opposing AT&T’s application with the California Public Utilities Commission to terminate its “Carrier of Last Resort" obligations in California. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 5, for more information.
- Adopt a resolution to recognize the importance of closing the gender pay gap, sign the California Equal Pay Pledge for County of San Mateo, and commit to its tenets.
COUNTY EXECUTIVE
- Adopt a resolution authorizing:
- A) The President of the Board of Supervisors to execute an amendment to the agreement with XL Construction Corporation, in a form substantially similar to that attached, for construction of the South San Francisco Wellness Center establishing a Guaranteed Maximum Price of $97,181,534; and
- B) The County Executive or designee and the Director of the Project Development Unit or designee to execute amendments and change orders to the agreement that increase the maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $4,859,076.70, five percent in aggregate; and
- C) A total project budget of $132,572,704 for the South San Francisco Wellness Center Project; and
- D) The County Executive, or designee, to take all actions that are consistent with and/or necessary to implement and carry out the intent of this resolution, including execution of additional amendments and agreements.
GOVERNING BOARD
- Acting as the Governing Board of the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority, adopt a resolution adopting the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2015 for In-Home Supportive Services, for the provision of salaries and benefits of Independent Providers for the term of January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026.
OFFICE OF SUSTAINABILITY
- Recommendation to:
- A) Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with Environmental Innovations, Inc. to fund a food service ware and edible food recovery education and outreach program, for the term of March 12, 2024 to March 11, 2027, in an amount not to exceed $500,000; and
- B) Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $500,000 from Non-General Fund General Reserves to Services and Supplies to fund the food service ware and edible food recovery education and outreach program.
