County of San Mateo Board Meeting Update: January 30, 2024

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person with remote public participation available via Zoom on Jan. 30, 2024. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:

PLANNING AND BUILDING

  • Conduct a public hearing on the introduction of an ordinance approving a Fourth Amendment of the Development Agreement regarding construction of the Big Wave North Parcel Alternative Project (“Big Wave NPA Project”) and the amended and restated development agreement:
  • A) Open public hearing
  • B) Close public hearing
  • C) Introduction of an ordinance approving a Fourth Amendment of the Development Agreement regarding construction of the Big Wave North Parcel Alternative (NPA) Project, and waive the reading of the ordinance in its entirety. 

The Board of Supervisors listened to the public hearing and introduction of the ordinance. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 5, for more information.

INFORMATION SERVICES

  • Adopt a resolution ratifying Information Technology Purchase Orders for the procurement of periodic software subscriptions and renewals and hardware maintenance as specified in Attachment A in the amount of $5,448,231 and authorizing the Director/Chief Information Officer or designee to execute necessary contract renewal documents for the individual terms as specified in Attachment B in an amount not to exceed $12,383,288 for a total authorization of $17,831,519.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 7, for more information

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

  • Adopt a resolution declaring loneliness a public health crisis in the County of San Mateo

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 8, for more information

  • Adopt the Hopeful Horizons: Empowering Lives Initiative, an ordinance adding a new Chapter 3.109 to Title 3 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code regulating encampments on public property in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County, previously introduced on January 23, 2024, and waive the reading of the ordinance in its entirety.

The Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to adopt the resolution with Supervisor Corzo casting the "nay" vote. The item was moved to the Regular Agenda for discussion before Board action. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 12, for more information
