Governor’s Proposal to Modernize Behavioral Health Systems
Join us on May 18th to learn about Governor Newsom’s new proposal to re-envision services for individuals with severe mental health and substance use disorders. View the flyer. Key elements of the proposal include:
- Expanding community-based residential settings for individuals living with severe mental health and substance use challenges
- Focusing MHSA funds on housing, workforce and treating serious mental health and substance use disorders; and
- Accountability measures to maximize federal funding first and focus on statewide outcomes.

MHSA Three-Year Plan Recommended Strategies
The MHSA Steering Committee meeting met on May 4th focused on presenting the MHSA 3-Year Plan recommendations. Next will be the presentation and opening of the 30-day public comment period at the Behavioral Health Commission meeting on June 7, 2023.
