The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met for a hybrid meeting Sept. 13, 2022. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:
PRESENTATIONS AND AWARDS
- Accept the 2021 San Mateo County Agricultural Crop Report prepared by the Agricultural Commissioner.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
- Recommendation to:
- A) Establish an Ad Hoc Committee to research and report on potential civilian oversight for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and to work with staff to design and help implement a community engagement process; and
- B) Appoint Supervisor Dave Pine and Supervisor Warren Slocum to the Ad Hoc Committee.
The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to establish an Ad Hoc Committee and appoint Supervisor Dave Pine and Supervisor Warren Slocum to the Ad Hoc Committee. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 12, for more information.
PLANNING AND BUILDING
- Recommendation to:
- A) Open public hearing
- B) Close public hearing
- C) Deny the appeal and uphold the Planning Commission’s decision to approve the Coastal Development Permit (PLN 2018-00057), by making the required findings and adopting the conditions of approval listed in Attachment A.
The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to deny the appeal and direct the Planning & Building Department to add to its work plan a proposal to amortize out the existing uses by rezoning the parcel. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 14, for more information.

- A) Open public hearing
- B) Close public hearing
- C) Deny the appeal and uphold the Planning Commission’s decision to approve the Coastal Development Permit, Planned Agricultural District Permit, Certificates of Compliance (Type B), and Lot Line Adjustment, County File PLN 2021-00381, by making he required findings and adopting the conditions of approval listed in Attachment A;
- D) Find that the rescission and replacement of Land Conservation (Williamson Act) and Farmland Security Zone contracts on the subject four parcels to facilitate a Lot Line Adjustment between those parcels is consistent with the County General Plan, the Local Coastal Program (LCP), and Planned Agricultural District/Coastal District Zoning District Regulations, the Land Conservation Act, and Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 72854, relating to the implementation of the California Land Conservation (Williamson) Act program in San Mateo County; and
- E) Adopt a resolution rescinding the California Land Conservation Act (Williamson Act) Contract and Farmland Security Zone Contract for APNS 065-210-090, 065- 210-220, 065-210-240, 065-370-200, AND 064-370-070, and replacing said contracts with a Farmland Security Zone Contract and Open Space Easement agreements.
The Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 with Supervisor David Canepa casting the dissenting vote to adopt the resolution. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 15, for more information.
COUNTY EXECUTIVE
- Adopt a resolution:
- A) Authorizing the appropriation of $2,005,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds for the establishment of a $2,000,000 Working Together to End Homelessness Innovation Grant Program and $5,000 for administration of the Program; and
- B) Authorizing and directing the County Executive, acting in consultation with the County Attorney, to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the San Mateo Credit Union Community Fund for the administration of the Working Together to End Homelessness Innovation Grant in an amount not to exceed $5,000.
- Adopt a resolution finding that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency presents imminent risks to the health or safety of attendees and that it continues to directly impact the ability of members of the Board of Supervisors to meet safely in person.
