County of San Mateo Board Meeting Update: May 17, 2022

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person and by videoconference May 17, 2022. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:

 

PLANNING AND BUILDING

  • Accept this informational briefing on the status, process, and timeline of the County’s 2023-2031 update to the Housing Element of the County General Plan.

The Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 to accept the informational briefing. Supervisor Warren Slocum was absent. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 9, for more information.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

  • Adopt a resolution affirming San Mateo County’s Unwavering Support for Women’s Reproductive Freedom and Healthcare Privacy.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. Supervisor Warren Slocum was absent. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 10, for more information.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE

  • Adopt a resolution:
  • A) Authorizing an allocation of $6,000,000 from the second tranche of San Mateo County’s American Rescue Plan Act funds to various specified San Mateo County Recovery Initiatives related to housing and food security; and
  • B) Authorizing the County Executive, or designee(s), to negotiate and enter into agreements with various providers to implement the $6,000,000 in specified American Rescue Plan Act funded San Mateo County Recovery Initiatives related to housing and food security; and
  • C) Directing the County Executive, or designee, to report back on progress quarterly starting in July 2022.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 11, for more information.

  • Recommendation to:
  • A) Adopt a resolution accepting Homekey Program funds in the amount of $13,081,126 for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and operation of Stone Villa Inn, a 44-unit hotel in the City of San Mateo; and
  • B) Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $13,081,126 recognizing unanticipated revenue from the State of California Homekey Program to Non-Departmental Services for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and operation of Stone Villa Inn.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution and approve the Appropriation Transfer Request. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 19, for more information.

  • Recommendation to:
  • A) Adopt a resolution accepting receipt of Project Homekey Grant Funds in the amount of $55,322,260 to the Major Capital Construction Budget Unit for the design and construction of the county’s Navigation Center; and
  • B) Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request recognizing unanticipated revenue in the amount of $55,322,260 from state HomeKey Grant funds to the Major Capital Construction Budget Unit for the design and construction of the county’s Navigation Center; and
  • C) Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request re-allocating a philanthropic donation from the Sobrato Foundation in the amount of $5,000,000 from the Non-Departmental Services Budget Unit to the Major Capital Construction Budget Unit to reflect project revenues and expenditures for the Navigation Center in the correct budget unit.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution and approve the Appropriation Transfer Requests. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 21, for more information.

  • Adopt an ordinance amending Section 2.71.110(b) of Chapter 2.71 of Title 2 of the County of San Mateo Ordinance Code to designate Juneteenth as an annual holiday for County employees, previously introduced on May 3, 2022, and waive the reading of the ordinance in its entirety. 

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the ordinance. See Consent Agenda, Item No. 25, for more information.
