    3. Calendar of Events and Mini-Grants
    4. Communication Campaign
  2. Attend monthly planning meetings January to February and biweekly planning meetings from March to May 2019.

What are the benefits of being a MHAM Planning Committee Member?

  1. To exchange resources and build relationships with other community partners
  2. To shape MHAM activities and messages that are disseminated countywide

On Tuesday, November 13th, 2018, San Mateo County's Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) gathering took place at San Mateo Public Library. With roughly 100 attendees, the TDoR Planning Committee which included Office and Diversity and Equity staff has received positive feedback by many in attendance. Trans activist, author and consultant Lily Zheng provided a powerful speech at the event and afterwards, was moved to write an article, “TDoR is for Trans People: 3 Tips on Doing TDoR Right." In the article, Lily expresses that TDoR can be a very challenging event given that it is a community memorial, and the most important message is to center trans folks in healing during this gathering. Please read Lily's article

Please also take a moment to read about the 24 community members who have been murdered as of this date in 2018, and join us in committing to standing up against anti-transgender violence.
