Driver Shortage Resulting in Some Intermittent Route Cancellations

Dear METRO Customers,

Santa Cruz METRO is currently experiencing a driver shortage, which may result in some route cancellations. We apologize for the inconvenience and please know we are doing everything in our power to remedy this situation. As in the past, we will do our best to notify you via Gov Delivery in advance of route cancellations that may result from the driver shortage.

To encourage applicants, METRO is currently offering a hiring bonus of $4,000 for new bus operators (drivers), paid in three installments including $500 after training, $1,500 after completing probation, and $2,000 a year after completing probation. If you or someone you know loves to drive, has a good driving record, and possess great customer service skills please apply, by October 24th, by visiting https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/scmtd.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. As always, METRO is committed to providing safe and reliable service. We hope that our new recruitment and hiring bonus will rectify our driver shortage so we can continue to fulfill the needs of our community.
