Public Health Q&A
Q. Are Stanislaus County employees going door-to-door to speak with community members?
Stanislaus County Health Services Agency – Public Health Division is aware of federal and state efforts taking place throughout California to help community members get vaccinated.
These efforts are targeted to reach community members in areas where vaccination rates are low; individuals may need assistance locating a vaccine clinic nearby and making an appointment.
In addition to outreach assistance provided by other agencies, Public Health staff are also providing vaccine education and appointment assistance in neighborhoods where mobile clinics are being held. Any community members that are uncomfortable with the outreach or do not wish to receive assistance should feel free to decline the services offered.

Q. Are the vaccines harmful to an unborn child or does the vaccine cause birth defects and problems with pregnancy?
The COVID-19 vaccines are safe for individuals who are pregnant. Data from both the CDC and FDA has shown no evidence of harmful health effects in either the pregnant individual or the unborn child. After vaccination, the antibodies created against COVID-19 may be able to cross the placenta, and protect your child once they are born.
Individuals who are pregnant do have an increased risk of having severe illness associated with contracting COVID-19. The CDC is recommending the vaccine for all those who are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant.
If you have additional questions about the COVID-19 vaccine please speak with your healthcare provider to find out what will work best for you.
