Thank A Hero, Be A Hero! A Food Donation & Gratitude Event

Mark your calendars for a fun, COVID-safe way to celebrate blessings and be thankful this holiday season! Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks is teaming up with Redwood Empire Food Bank for a unique, drive-thru food donation and gratitude event on Saturday, November 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Finley Park (back parking lot), 110 Stony Point Road. Community heroes, such as nurses, police officers, teachers, and other essential workers will be on hand to receive Thank You cards, signs, pictures and smiles of gratitude, as well as much-needed donations of non-perishable food items.

The act of saying “thank you” is a confirmation of a profound and wonderful truth, that we depend on each other and are joined–across this resilient city–in a web composed of immeasurable acts of giving. Join us in giving thanks to our community heroes and become a hero by donating food to those in need during this holiday season. READ MORE

Santa Rosa’s Attitude of Gratitude

Celebrate this month of Thanksgiving by submitting a picture of something or someone in Santa Rosa that makes you smile, or you are grateful for, or create a thank you sign and send us a photo. We will be happy to review all of the gratitude photos we receive and post a video online in time for Thanksgiving. Please submit all photos to volunteersantarosa@srcity.org by 5 p.m., Monday, November 16.

Calling All Creative Float Enthusiasts!

Do you love to decorate parade floats, or have always wanted to do one? We have the opportunity for you! We are taking registrations for float entries for our holiday-themed vehicle parade, “Cruisin’ Down Candy Cane Lane.” On Saturday, December 12, we will be providing a non-contact, COVID-safe activity where community members can attend a holiday parade at A Place to Play Park (2375 West 3rd St) without leaving the comforts of their vehicles. But, we need your help to create the floats for our parade! These can be trucks, vans or cars. Since we will be providing two to three different parade times, this requires almost a full day commitment. For more information or to register a float, please contact Jeanne Pugh at 707-543-3755 or jpugh@srcity.org.
