Team Games & Spectators on Sports Fields Prohibited Per Current Health Order.
Sports team competitions, games, spectators, and gatherings on or around sports fields are a violation of the current Health Order. These activities are more likely to contribute to the spread of COVID-19 – putting individuals, families and our whole community at risk. Sonoma County remains in the State’s most high-risk tier (Widespread/Purple) for the spread of COVID-19 and must follow the strictest public health guidelines to protect our community from this deadly virus. Everyone’s help is needed to save lives and to safely reopen our economy! Your health, the health of those you love, and ALL our futures are at stake. If violations at City sports fields continue, sports fields may have to be temporarily closed to all public uses. Please do your part to keep the fields open.

Get Tested for COVID-19 at a Pop-Up Testing Site
The County of Sonoma encourages all residents to get tested, even if you don’t have any symptoms, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and collect data for a safe reopening. Ten recurring community testing events are available throughout the county this week, and every week for the next several weeks to make testing more easily accessible. GLASS FIRE UPDATE
State's Phase 2 Consolidated Debris Removal Program
Fire survivors who have residential property that was destroyed or significantly damaged by the Glass Fire may sign up for Phase 2 of the state-sponsored Consolidated Fire Debris Removal Program to ensure their properties are left free of hazardous waste and debris. Right of Entry (ROE) Forms for Phase 2 of State’s Consolidated Debris Removal Program are now available and are due by December 15. READ MORE

Multicultural Roots Project: Stories from Santa Rosa’s Black, Indigenous, People of Color
The City of Santa Rosa is excited to announce the launch of the Multicultural Roots Project. The Multicultural Roots Project has two goals: to create visibility for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) in Sonoma County, with a particular focus on Santa Rosa; and to recognize, through historical stories from BIPOC, contributions and impacts that have shaped Santa Rosa and Sonoma County. Working with local historians and community partners, Community Engagement staff gathered stories and facts about local BIPOC leaders, as well as historical events and places that have shaped Santa Rosa and Sonoma County into what it is today. Each month, we will share five of these stories with the community. READ MORE
Gilbert Gray: Freedom Fighter, Activist, and Fearless Advocate
Born in Tatum, Texas, in 1916, Gilbert Gray was described as having a strong work ethic and rich in history. During the early 1950s, Santa Rosa was segregated, and African American families primarily occupied the area of South Park. Opportunities for people of color were limited, and motivated to seek equal opportunity, Mr. Gray helped organize and raise funds that helped establish the Community Baptist Church in Santa Rosa. He became an activist by protesting against segregation, participating in sit-ins at the Silver Dollar Saloon, a business that refused service to Black customers. In 1953, Mr. Gray, along with fellow civil rights activist, Platt Williams, co-founded the Santa Rosa-Sonoma County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and later filled the position of president. City Council 2020 District Elections Race Update
Ballot counting is still underway in Sonoma County to determine the official outcome of Santa Rosa City Council district seats that were up for 2020 election. As a reminder, the 2020 election was the second (and final) phase of transitioning Santa Rosa to district-based Council representation, and Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 were up for election this year. Once results are posted as final, all seven areas of the City will have direct district representation. Newly elected City Council members will be seated at the December 8th Council Meeting. Following this seating, and during that same meeting, the Council will select the next Mayor and Vice Mayor. Thank a Hero, Be a Hero! A Food Donation & Gratitude Event
Plans are shaping up for the “Thank a Hero, Be a Hero!” drive-thru event on November 21, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Finley Park. Local community heroes, including teachers, police officers, nurses, food service and other essential workers will be on hand to receive your Thank You cards, pictures, signs, and smiles of gratitude, as well as donations for the Redwood Empire Food Bank. The act of saying “thank you” is a confirmation of a profound and wonderful truth, that we depend on each other, that we are joined—across this resilient city—in a web composed of immeasurable acts of giving. Open and Out Extended through January 31, 2021
With the holidays around the corner, now is a great time to get out and see what’s open Downtown. The popular outdoor dining experience, Open & Out, featuring work from local artists, has been extended through January 31, 2021, and there are changes on the horizon with this extension. For the winter months, many businesses operating outdoors can opt to have tenting, rain cover, and outdoor heaters to accommodate the colder weather. Also new, while the 500 and 700 blocks will remain open and out, the 600 block (between Mendocino Ave. and D Street) will reopen for vehicular traffic and parking for easy access to Downtown. Region Earns U.S. EPA WaterSense Awards for Water Saving Programs
Santa Rosa is pleased to announce that the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership (Partnership) was nationally recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for improving water use efficiency in the region. The Partnership, that includes 12 water utilities in Sonoma and Marin counties, including the City of Santa Rosa, was created to provide regional solutions for managing our precious water resources. This year, the Partnership earned two of the 29 U.S. EPA WaterSense Program awards. This includes the WaterSense “Sustained Excellence Award” for the Partnership’s Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper program, and the WaterSense “Excellence Award” for promoting water efficient products. As a result, the Partnership has now received our 12th & 13th award from the U.S. EPA WaterSense Program. Extending Service Life of the City’s Sewer Infrastructure
The City recently rehabilitated over three quarters of a mile of 54” diameter reinforced trunk sewer pipe along the Llano Trunk, without excavating any roadway. This project, known as the Llano Trunk – West 3rd Street, Brittain to Darla, and Glenbrook Siphon Lining project utilized Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining, a trenchless rehabilitation technology that uses a fabric liner saturated with an epoxy resin to repair existing pipes. CIPP benefits our community by eliminating the need for major roadway excavation, it’s less costly than replacing the existing pipe, and it can extend the service life of our sewer infrastructure by more than 50 years. Las competiciones de equipos deportivos, los juegos, los espectadores y las reuniones en o alrededor de los campos o canchas deportivas son una violación a la Orden de Salud actual. Es más probable que estas actividades contribuyan a la propagación del COVID-19, poniendo en riesgo a las personas, las familias y toda nuestra comunidad. El Condado de Sonoma permanece en el nivel de mayor riesgo del estado (generalizado / color púrpura) para la propagación del COVID-19 y debe seguir las pautas de salud pública más estrictas para proteger a nuestra comunidad de este virus mortal. ¡Se necesita la ayuda de todos para salvar vidas y reabrir nuestra economía de manera segura! Su salud, la salud de sus seres queridos y TODO nuestro futuro están en juego. Proyecto de Raíces Multiculturales: Historias de la Gente Negra, Indígena y de Color de Santa Rosa
La Ciudad de Santa Rosa se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento del Proyecto Raíces Multiculturales. El Proyecto de Raíces Multiculturales tiene dos objetivos: crear visibilidad para la gente negra, indígena y de color (BIPOC, por sus siglas en inglés) en el Condado de Sonoma, con un enfoque particular en Santa Rosa; y reconocer, a través de historias históricas de BIPOC, contribuciones e impactos que han dado forma a Santa Rosa y el Condado de Sonoma. Trabajando con historiadores locales y socios comunitarios, el personal de Participación de la Comunidad (Community Engagement en inglés) recopiló historias y hechos sobre líderes locales de BIPOC, así como eventos históricos y lugares que han dado forma a Santa Rosa y el Condado de Sonoma en lo que es hoy. Gilbert Gray: Luchador por la Libertad, Activista y Líder Valiente

Actualización de la Carrera Electoral del Distrito 2020 del Consejo Municipal
El conteo de boletas aún está en curso en el Condado de Sonoma para determinar el resultado oficial de los candidatos del distrito del Concejo Municipal de Santa Rosa que estaban disponibles para las elecciones de 2020. Como recordatorio, la elección de 2020 fue la segunda (y última) fase de la transición de Santa Rosa a la representación del Consejo basada en el distrito, y los Distritos 1, 3, 5 y 7 estaban disponibles para las elecciones este año. Abierto y Afuera Extendido hasta el 31 de enero de 2021

La popular experiencia de cenar al aire libre, con obras de artistas locales, se ha extendido hasta el 31 de enero de 2021, y hay cambios en el horizonte con esta extensión. Para los meses de invierno, muchos negocios que operan al aire libre pueden optar por tener carpas, cuberturas para la lluvia y calentadores al aire libre para adaptarse al clima más frío. La Región Gana Premios WaterSense de la EPA de EE. UU. Por Programas de Conservación de Agua
Santa Rosa se complace en anunciar que la Alianza para Ahorrar Agua de Sonoma-Marin (Partnership en inglés) fue reconocida a nivel nacional por la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de los Estados Unidos (EPA, por sus siglas en inglés) por mejorar la eficiencia del uso del agua en la región. La Asociación, que incluye 12 empresas de agua en los Condados de Sonoma y Marin, incluida la Ciudad de Santa Rosa, se creó para brindar soluciones regionales para administrar nuestros preciosos recursos hídricos. Este año, la Asociación ganó dos de los 29 premios del Programa WaterSense de la EPA de EE. UU. Esto incluye el "Premio a la excelencia sostenida" de WaterSense por el Programa Paisajista calificado con uso eficiente del agua de la Asociación, y el "Premio a la excelencia" de WaterSense por promover productos eficientes en el uso del agua. Ampliación de la Vida Útil de la Infraestructura de Alcantarillado de la Ciudad
La Ciudad rehabilitó recientemente más de tres cuartos de milla de tubería de alcantarillado troncal reforzada de 54” de diámetro a lo largo del Tronco Llano, sin excavar ningún camino. Este proyecto, conocido como Llano Trunk – la calle West 3rd Street, Brittain a Darla y Glenbrook Siphon Lining, utilizó un revestimiento de tubería curada en el lugar (CIPP, por sus siglas en inglés), una tecnología de rehabilitación sin zanjas que utiliza un revestimiento de tela saturado con una resina epoxi para reparar tuberías existentes. CIPP beneficia a nuestra comunidad al eliminar la necesidad de una excavación importante de carreteras, es menos costoso que reemplazar la tubería existente y puede extender la vida útil de nuestra infraestructura de alcantarillado en más de 50 años.
