City News

 

Council Goal Setting for 2019-2020

Council Goals

City Council held a special session to set the City’s top priorities for fiscal year 2019-20 on February 21. At the conclusion of robust discussion and public input, Financial Stability, Recovery and Resilience, a Comprehensive Housing Strategy, addressing Homelessness, and Implementation of the Climate Action Plan were identified as the highest priority focus areas for the City for the next 12 months. Council will next be working with staff to develop metrics for each of these priority areas. READ MORE


Homelessness Solutions 

Homelessness is a significant concern throughout Santa Rosa and remains one of the City Council's top priorities. Many City resources are committed to finding and implementing solutions. The City's response, including the Mayor’s new Open Letter on Homelessness, is thoroughly outlined on the City's Homelessness Solutions website. Rebuilding Updates

Recovery

Repairing Fire-Damaged Infrastructure  

Under the presidential disaster declaration approved for the 2017 wildfires, Santa Rosa can seek federal aid to help with the repair and rebuilding of our fire-damaged public infrastructure through the FEMA Public Assistance Program. It’s a complex process to seek the aid necessary to restore our infrastructure and staff continue to work intently through the process. The City has created a new webpage to keep residents informed of this process, the status of infrastructure recovery projects and funds received from FEMA. READ MORE

Disaster Loan Assistance Program for Coffey Park Homeowners

Eligible Coffey Park area homeowners whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the October 2017 wildfires, and who have not yet begun to rebuild, are able to apply for gap funding of up to $100,000 through the City of Santa Rosa’s CalHome Disaster Assistance Loan Program. READ MORE

Coffey Neighborhood Park Master Plan 

A walking path, fitness stations, two playgrounds, picnic tables, a dog park, portable restroom and a native garden are just some of the features proposed for the new Coffey Neighborhood Park. The City Council will consider the draft Master Plan for rebuilding the park tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2 and there will be an opportunity for public comment. READ MORE

Fundraising for Fire-Impacted Parks  

There is at least a $6-million gap in funding to restore Santa Rosa’s fire impacted parks. The Santa Rosa Parks Foundation is the contact for contributions to help fill the gap and is also looking for experienced fundraisers to serve on their board of directors. READ MORE


Plan Downtown

Help shape Downtown Santa Rosa's future by participating in the update to the Downtown Station Area Specific Plan. The plan explores ways to intensify housing development downtown and considers related issues of land use, transportation, economic development and historic preservation. READ MORE


Zero Waste Draft Master Plan 

Zero waste and recycling

The City is working with the community to develop a Zero Waste Plan that is quantifiable, reasonable and impactful locally. The plan focuses on a process and a philosophy around the redesign of products and consumption, so that all material goods can be reused or recycled – or not needed at all. We want to your input on the draft Zero Waste Plan which is available online for public comment through April 26, 2019. READ MORE


Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan  

City Council has unanimously adopted Santa Rosa’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update 2018. The Plan is a guidance tool informing the City of how best to build a citywide transportation system that is bicycle and pedestrian friendly. A key goal of the Plan Update is to encourage more residents to bike and walk in Santa Rosa. READ MORE

New Community Portal for Requesting Public Records  

The City has introduced a new public records portal called NextRequest. You now have the ability to look up any public records request previously submitted by a member of the public or submit your own new record request online. READ MORE 


New Commuter Discounted Parking Permit 

Parking pay station

Commuting using public transportation just got a whole lot easier, with the City’s new Commuter Discounted Parking Permit. The new discounted parking permit is intended for commuters who regularly use public transportation and allows them to park in Garage 12 for a reduced monthly cost of $31—a 50% discount on the regular monthly rate. READ MORE

First Saturday Clean-up on Prince Memorial Greenway

Volunteers

Saturday, April 6 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Olive Park near 1698 Hazel Street
On the first Saturday of every month you can help take care of Santa Rosa Creek. Located in the heart of downtown, the Greenway provides a home for river otter, kingfishers, steelhead trout. It also provides our community opportunities for recreation, public art and environmental education. SIGN UP


Neighborfest Event Planning 

The City is working with neighborhoods in Santa Rosa to plan Neighborfest events. Neighborfest is a block party-style event that offers neighborhoods the chance to come together, have fun, engage, and build a stronger, more connected community. We need volunteers to help with planning, set-up and clean-up; assisting with event activities, serving food, capturing photos and videos, and event promotion and outreach. SIGN UP
