REPLACING WATER SERVICE LINES SHOWING PROMISE
We have good news. The work to repair the fire-damaged water system in Fountaingrove is nearly complete and the sampling data looks promising. We are optimistic that the replacement of contaminated water service lines will resolve the issue.
Once construction is complete, system flushing and sampling will continue, and every newly installed water service line will be tested to confirm the contamination was removed.
In the last two months the data from weekly sampling of 62 hydrants in the advisory area, as well as the weekly sampling of the water going to the surviving homes is showing that the water is meeting all state and federal regulations for drinking water.
Additional testing, in consultation with state and national regulators, will determine next steps, but we are hopeful that we will have a path towards lifting the water quality advisory soon.

INSIDE THE ADVISORY AREA
Most of the water service lines are replaced and the contractor should be wrapping up work within the next two weeks.
Service Line Replacement
This work includes replacing water service lines from the water main to the meter, extending the new service line from the meter to 12” behind the back of sidewalk on the property side, installing a new water meter box, and replacing the sidewalk as needed.
Property owners with contaminated water service lines are required to replace property side service lines, from the back of sidewalk to the home, to ensure property side contamination has been removed. Extending the service line 12” to the back of the sidewalk will eliminate the need for property owners to dig up and repair the sidewalk when replacing property side water service lines.
The City anticipates that water service line replacement in the advisory area will be complete by mid-August 2018.

Construction and Irrigation Water
Property owners may only obtain water service for construction and irrigation water until the advisory is lifted. Property owners must sign an agreement and install advisory signs stating this water will be used for construction and irrigation purposes only.
Water Quality Advisory
The water quality advisory remains in effect for this isolated portion of Fountaingrove. Click here to view map.
OUTSIDE THE ADVISORY AREA
Residents in fire impacted areas, outside of the drinking water advisory area, have been notified, via mail, if repairs to their property’s service line is needed. As services are repaired, City staff is flushing and sampling new water service lines. The water quality samples taken from your water service will be sent to a certified lab for testing to confirm that your new water service meets all state and federal regulatory requirements for safe drinking water.

Water Quality
The City of Santa Rosa continuously monitors our community’s drinking water supply. Outside of the water quality advisory area, extensive sampling shows that water being supplied through water mains and services to homes, public facilities, schools, and businesses meet all drinking water standards.
