CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: WATER SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENT

Contractors continue to make progress trenching and replacing fire damaged water service lines. At the same time, city staff are opening hydrants to flush water through the system and taking water samples for testing. So far, the data looks promising and we are hopeful that replacing water services may resolve the issue. Once the construction is complete water quality sampling data will guide next steps.

Property owners have access to the area while these repairs are being completed. When entering a construction zone please use caution.

INSIDE THE ADVISORY AREA

Service Line Replacement

City hired contractor, TerraCon Constructors, is replacing water service lines from the water main to the meter, extending the new service line from the meter to 12” behind the back of sidewalk on the property side, installing a new water meter box, and replacing the sidewalk as needed.

Property owners with contaminated water service lines are required to replace property side service lines, from the back of sidewalk to the home, to ensure the contamination has been removed. Extending the service line 12” to the back of the sidewalk will eliminate the need for property owners to dig up and repair the sidewalk when replacing property side water service lines.

The City anticipates that water service line replacement in the advisory area will be complete by mid-August 2018.
