On Monday, July 22, San Diego County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Terra Lawson-Remer joined County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation Director Brian Albright at Waterfront Park to officially open a new active recreation area. Read the article.

Temperatures are hitting triple digits in parts of San Diego County. This happens every year, and we respond by planning more activities at night, activating our nature and community centers as Cool Zones, and temporarily closing several parks.
Properties that will close this August include El Capitan County Preserve in Lakeside and Mt. Gower County Preserve in Ramona.
Closing parks is always a last resort, however we do it in an effort to reduce heat-related incidents like heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Learn more in the article.
Join us at a public workshop to discuss the Santa Mara Greenway Trail project history, progress, opportunities and next steps. This meeting has been set up for attendees to ask questions, share feedback, identify preferences for trail features, and take an active role in the planning process. Details are below.

DID YOU KNOW? We manage four community centers and one multi-purpose sports park where we run specialized classes, camps and programs. Because these require registration and fees, they are promoted differently than other park activities.
