Nearly 200 people attended an event in 4S Ranch on Saturday, May 10, where District 2 San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson presided over the ribbon-cutting celebration for our newest public space: Four Gee County Park.
The event featured games, a prize wheel, a nature touch table, a live owl demonstration, and treats for both humans and dogs. Read the County Communications article.
Located at 16964 Four Gee Road in San Diego, the park features a large shade-covered playground, a lawn, picnic tables, benches, restrooms, built-in game tables and boards, fenced leash-free dog areas, dog agility equipment, and more. The park is free to access and open every day from sunrise to sunset.
Otay Valley Regional Park (OVRP) is a joint planning effort between the County and Cities of San Diego and Chula Vista. It’s a long-term vision to establish 11 miles of connected trails and parks from the Otay Reservoir to the San Diego Bay. Agencies have been making progress as land resources become available and the County will be managing 12 of the projects to add recreation options to the valley.
Two in process, now:
- The first property is temporarily called Active Recreation Area 3 and it's located between I-5 and 805. It spans 46 acres and has the potential to include a mix of sports fields, sports courts, fitness equipment, a community garden, trails, scenic viewpoints and open space. Learn more about the project and find out about upcoming public meetings on the project web page.
- The second property measures 2.5 acres and is temporarily called Heritage Staging & Trails, located west of I-805 at Heritage Road. This project will focus on improved trail connections, safe river crossings, new trails and a new staging/parking area. The first public meeting for this property will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 via Zoom. Get details at sdparks.org.
