 On Sept. 28, DPR staff joined County Supervisor Jim Desmond, members of the Fallbrook Community Planning Group and Community Service Area 81, Fallbrook Skatepark Inc. and local residents to break ground on Village View County Park in Fallbrook. More than 60 people attended the event and with construction taking place now, the nearly 7-acre park is on track to open in spring 2025. Read the County News Center story.

 Dozens joined us this past Sunday to formally launch Nature Unplugged's 2023 Hike-A-Thon at Los Penasquitos Ranch House. Partners with the County of San Diego's Health and Human Services Agency were present along with San Diego River Park Foundation, I Love a Clean San Diego and Fjallraven.
Guests were treated to information booths, giveaways, adobe tours, a ranger-led hike, a guided meditation session and more. Nature Unplugged received a County Proclamation and was officially welcomed as a Live Well Partner.

Now in its fifth year, our annual celebration of local birds of prey – Hawktober – is coming to 18 parks across San Diego. Get to know Turbo, our Peregrine Falcon a.k.a. the fastest animal alive, Penelope, our Ferruginous Hawk and the largest hawk species in North America, even Mutaah, our Great Horned Owl, representing the only owl species that actually hoots!
