On Friday, April 21, the County of San Diego kicked off dozens of Earth Day activities with a public fair at the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa. Departments that are part of County’s Land Use and Environment Group, including Parks and Recreation, set up education stations and hosted interactive activities to relay sustainability-related information in fun and memorable ways. The following day – Earth Day, April 22 – we welcomed more than 400 people to our outdoor spaces via 14 park beautification projects hosted in conjunction with I Love A Clean San Diego, a hike, a yoga class, an arts and crafts activity, and three nature discovery tables. Additionally, compost and mulch giveaways were stationed at three parks, thanks to a special partnership with the County's Department of Public Works.

We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with the San Diego County Fair! Their 2023 theme – “Get Out There” – is in perfect alignment with our mission and the work we do every day to encourage more people to spend quality time outside. Make a plan to visit the Main Exhibit Hall where we’ve teamed up with California State Parks to set up informational displays and host educational workshops, June 7 to July 4!
