Help for the Holidays
Food insecurity affects hundreds of thousands of San Diegans. When basic needs aren’t met, health, hope and quality of life are compromised. Join us in our efforts to address hunger by donating food items at one of our regional parks, campgrounds, community centers or nature centers. We’ll be collecting items for the San Diego Food Bank to distribute now through Dec. 6. The items that are needed the most include canned meats and tuna, canned soup, canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, spaghetti, cereal, rice and macaroni and cheese. Take a peek at your pantry and reduce food waste in your home while providing sustenance and support for those in need.
Are you live the RV life? The van life? The trailer life? Why not live your way while supporting and enjoying a desert campground? We have immediate openings for Volunteer Park Hosts at Agua Caliente County Park, now through May 2023.
Agua Caliente Park is a tent, RV and cabin camping destination in Anza Borrego Desert State Park and is best known for its geothermally heated springs and rugged desert hiking. Three naturally fed pools provide different ways of enjoying the park's mineral water. Hikers enjoy miles of trails through the park's canyons and over its hillsides.
What is the role of a camp host? Hosts work with park staff to provide visitors with information and assistance and provide other support. They encourage compliance with park rules and regulations, act as a contact in emergencies occur and collect park entrance fees. Additional duties may include maintaining facilities, landscaping, removing litter, making simple repairs, and performing light housekeeping and janitorial duties. Hosts work a minimum of 20 hours per week on weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed, in exchange for a no-cost, long-term RV campsite with full hook-ups, where they live for the duration of their agreement.
Applying is simple. Fill out and submit the volunteer application at Volunteer (sdparks.org)
