The State of California has launched a temporary home delivery meal service called the Great Plates Delivered Program. This program will deliver three meals/day to qualifying older adults (60+). Meals are provided by local restaurants that have been impacted by COVID-19.
Meals are available to older adults who make less than 600% of the federal poverty line and are not currently enrolled in other public assistance programs such as CalFresh and SSI.
To find out if you are eligible, you may fill out an online application or call 2-1-1 for assistance.
When schools closed due to COVID-19, the USDA made policy changes that would allow schools to respond the changing landscape. We've seen incredible innovation from school districts across San Diego County as they've shifted from lunchroom to curbside meal delivery.
The USDA has extended these policy changes through August 31, 2020, so that school districts may continue to provide free meals to their students. These meals are available to ALL students ages 2-18. Families are encouraged to support their schools and take advantage of these meals.
