Stormwater Pollution Prevention - November Events

We all have a part in keeping our local waterways healthy and preventing stormwater pollution. There are multiple events scheduled in November to help us do just that!

November 9 -- The Water Conservation Garden Annual Fall Plant Sale and Landscape Design Consultation

The Water Conservation Garden is holding their annual Fall Plant Sale and Landscape Design Consultation on November 9, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in El Cajon. Learn ways to select plants for landscaping that can help reduce flooding and filter polluted rain runoff. Click here for more details.

For more information on sustainable landscaping, see the County’s  guidelines on Sustainable Landscaping and the Sustainable Landscape Program.

November 15 -- America Recycles Day

The County of San Diego Recycles. It’s in Our Nature! Be a part of America Recycles Day on November 15 to help reduce waste, prevent stormwater pollution, and improve the quality of our local waterways. America Recycles Day is a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful. This annual event is dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States.

How Can You Get Involved?

  • Refamiliarize yourself with what can be recycled - Many common materials can be recycled which prevents wasting natural resources and taking up landfill space. Our Recycling at Home website and Sort This! Recycling Guide provide helpful information to understand the basics of recycling.
  • Take the Pledge to Learn, Act and Share -- Over 79,000 people have taken the pledge to Act by reducing, recycling, or buying recycled. You can keep this number growing by adding your pledge here.
  • Find Recycling Locations/Options – For recycling locations and options near you, visit  WasteFreeSD.org
