The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants who wish to serve the unexpired term of the elected San Diego County District Attorney.
On May 2, 2017, the County Board of Supervisors approved the process to fill the District Attorney (DA) vacancy. Current DA Bonnie Dumanis recently announced her retirement, which is effective July 7, 2017.
The job is an elected post, but since Ms. Dumanis is retiring before her term would have ended in January 2019, the Board of Supervisors will follow the appointment process outlined in County Board policy.
The County will accept applications beginning on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 8 a.m. through May 31, 2017, at 5 p.m. All candidates must obtain the application in person and also submit it in person at the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, which is located at the County Administration Center at 1600 Pacific Highway in Room 402 in San Diego.
Pursuant to state law, all candidates must meet minimum qualifications to become District Attorney. The minimum qualifications are available on the Clerk of the Board’s website.
