By Paul Downey, President and CEO of Serving Seniors

Every day for the next 16 years, 10,000 Baby Boomers will turn 65. In San Diego alone, 1 in 10 residents are over the age of 65. While seniors are living longer and more fulfilling lives, many people at this stage of life struggle with economic, social and health issues. We must ensure that seniors remain healthy and independent with opportunities for meaningful social activities and financial security. By addressing the whole person, we can empower older adults to get the services they need and the connections they desire to live well.

At Serving Seniors, our mission is to help seniors living in poverty live healthy and fulfilling lives. We are the leading provider of services for low-income seniors in San Diego County. Through our continuum of care model, we provide nutritious meals, health education, social services, case management, affordable supportive housing and lifelong learning opportunities to more than 4,500 seniors per year.

This month’s Live Well San Diego newsletter highlights programs, resources and activities that support senior wellness and help aging and older adults to continue to thrive.
