Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Josie Gonzales has officially signed and delivered the 2026 annual assessment roll to Chief Deputy Property Tax Franciliza Zyss of the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office. The 2026 San Bernardino County assessment roll encompasses 905,255 parcels with a total assessed value of $376.9 billion.

 San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services is inviting the public to help shape the 2027 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update by taking a brief survey.
San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services invites residents, businesses and community organizations to share feedback through a public survey for the 2027 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) update.
The MJHMP identifies hazards that could affect communities across the county and recommends long-term actions to reduce risk before disasters occur. The plan also helps the county and participating communities remain eligible for federal hazard mitigation grant funding. Survey responses will be shared with the Hazard Mitigation Planning Team to help identify local concerns, past hazard impacts and possible ways to reduce future losses.

This year's Fourth of July put the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District to the test — and our crews met the moment with a record-breaking response.
Over the 24-hour period from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday, the district responded to 968 incidents, including 227 fire responses. By comparison, County Fire responded to 457 incidents, including 29 fires, during the same 24-hour period on June 4 — a striking illustration of how much the holiday stretched our resources.

From uncertainty to opportunity: A foster youth finds a trusted support system with Children and Family Services

For many young people, having a trusted adult to turn to can make all the difference. For foster youth Nathan Reyes, that support came through San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS).
Nathan's childhood was marked by years of physical and emotional abuse. From a very young age, he was raised to believe that asking for help or seeking guidance was not an option. Trapped in an unhealthy environment for much of his life, he struggled to imagine a future beyond the difficult circumstances he faced.

On June 25, Children's Network of San Bernardino County hosted its inaugural Safe Beginnings Summit, bringing together more than 100 healthcare professionals, educators and community partners to strengthen collaboration around infant safety and family well-being. The summit, hosted at Kaiser Permanente's Palm Court Conference Center in Fontana, focused on ensuring families throughout San Bernardino County receive consistent, evidence-based education and support from pregnancy through early childhood.

Bluff Lake Reserve, located in Big Bear Lake, features towering pine forests and quartz monzonite rock formations surrounding a 20-acre lake. The reserve is also known for its mountain marsh and meadow complex, which supports a variety of native plants and wildlife.
