Recently, I had the pleasure of partnering with the Upland Chamber of Commerce and sponsor their New Member Reception at Barcuso’s in downtown Upland. It was a great evening celebrating local businesses, welcoming new members, and reconnecting with those who continue to invest in our community.
I also enjoyed taking a moment to personally thank Mayor Velto and the Upland City Council for their partnership and collaboration as we work together to improve our neighborhoods. Great things happen when we work as a team!

On Thursday, April 16, I had the opportunity to stop by Foothill Family Shelter and present a $50,000 check to support the incredible work they’re doing for families in need.
With a mission of Housing and Hope Since 1984, these funds will help strengthen housing stability across all three phases of care, continue vital case management and therapeutic services, support food and hygiene distribution through their Help Desk, and help expand programs that serve even more families in our region.
Foothill Family Shelter continues to make a real difference by helping families move toward stability and brighter futures. I’m proud to support an organization that delivers meaningful, lasting results for our community.
What an incredible turnout at this year's Job Fair and Expungement Event! It was great to see so many people come out ready to take the next step toward new opportunities. A big thank you to Ontario International Airport, San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department, and the Law Offices of the Public Defender for partnering with my office to make this our biggest event yet.
Hundreds of residents connected with employers, explored new career paths, and took advantage of resources designed to help them move forward.
✔️ 983 job seekers pre-registered ✔️ 466 job seekers served ✔️ 33 employers on-site, ready to hire ✔️ 11 resource vendors ✔️ 85 individuals were assisted in starting the record-clearing process by the Law Offices of the Public Defender
Events like this are about more than just jobs. They’re about opening doors, creating second chances, and helping people build a brighter future for themselves and their families. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a success!
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Chino State of the City at the Chaffey College Community Center, and it was a great evening celebrating everything that makes Chino such a special place. This year's theme, "Always Home," was a powerful reminder of the strong sense of community that continues to define the city.
As Chino grows and evolves from its rich agricultural roots into a vibrant and thriving community, the evening highlighted some incredible accomplishments and shared an exciting look at what lies ahead for the city's future.
One of my favorite moments of the night was the presentation of the City's annual Spirit of Achievement Award. This recognition honors residents who go above and beyond in service to the community. This year's honorees were Dale and Sandra Sue Bright, whose dedication and commitment truly reflect the spirit that makes Chino feel like home.
I had the pleasure of spending time with the members of the Upland Woman's Club during their monthly meeting. It was a great opportunity to share a few updates about the exciting things happening across San Bernardino County and in the Fourth District.
While I was there, I also had the honor of recognizing a historic moment. I presented the Upland Woman's Club with a certificate celebrating their 100th Anniversary. Reaching a century of service is an amazing achievement and a reflection of the many dedicated women who have given their time and passion to helping their community thrive.
Thank you to the Upland Women's Club for such a warm welcome and congratulations on your 100 years of leadership, service, and community spirit.
Wednesday, April 8, 2026, was such an exciting day in the Fourth District as we celebrated some great improvements at Prado Regional Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Community members, families and local leaders gathered to celebrate this milestone and get a first look at the park's newest upgrades, all part of a multi-million-dollar investment that is bringing even more opportunities for recreation and outdoor fun.

Visitors will now notice these great additions throughout the park, including a brand-new gatehouse, a beautiful entry monument welcoming guests as they arrive, a new boat dock for those ready to enjoy the water, and ADA pathway to improve accessibility, and a snack bar where families can grab a quick bite to eat during their visit. I’d also like to personally thank Norma Torres for helping fund some of these projects. Partnerships like these truly make a difference, allowing us to create more opportunities for residents and visitors to get outside and enjoy everything our parks have to offer.
These upgrades are part of a larger vision to modernize Prado Regional Park and make it an even better place for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and visitors to gather, relax and enjoy everything the park has to offer. Prado continues to grow and improve as one of the region's premier outdoor destinations.
If you haven't visited in a while, now is the perfect time to plan a trip. Bring the family and come experience the new improvements for yourself.
Twenty-five years of service is an incredible accomplishment, and earlier this month we celebrated David Sakurai for his dedication to our community. As the Fourth District's representative on the Equal Opportunity Commission, Dave has spent the last quarter century helping ensure that fairness, opportunity, and inclusion remain at the heart of the work being done for our residents.
Through is commitment and leadership, Dave has helped make a difference for people across our community. His willingness to serve and advocate for equal opportunity reflects the very best of his public service.
Congratulations, Dave, and thank you for 25 years of making an impact.
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to tour the Carnegie Navigation Center in Santa Ana, and it really inspired me. Seeing the model they created made me want to bring something similar to San Bernardino County.
On Monday, April 6, 2026, this idea became reality as San Bernardino County joined the City of Fontana and regional partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the West End Regional Navigation Center.
This new project will transform a property in Fontana into a central hub designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the West End (Chino, Fontana, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Rialto, and Upland) of San Bernardino County. When completed, the center will offer 200 beds, including 100 emergency shelter beds and 100 recuperative care beds for individuals who need a safe place to recover while receiving medical support.
What makes this facility especially meaningful is the way services will come together under one roof. Individuals will have access to case management, housing navigation, benefits assistance, document readiness, and behavioral health support all in one place. By bringing these services together, the center will help create a clearer path toward stability and long-term housing.
This project is a strong example of what can happen when cities, the county, and community partners work together toward a common goal. This groundbreaking is not just about a new facility. It represents a shared commitment to building real solutions and helping people move forward with dignity and support.

Thursday, April 2, 2026, was definitely one for the books as we celebrated Opening Day for the Ontario Tower Buzzers, the Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, with a special ribbon-cutting to officially welcome the team to our community.
The energy at the ballpark was incredible. Fans, families, and community leaders filled the stands, all excited to kick off the season together. You could feel the excitement in the air as everyone gathered to celebrate this new chapter for baseball in Ontario.
The Tower Buzzers are a great addition to our community and another fun way for friends and families to come together, cheer loudly, and enjoy America’s favorite pastime right here at home.
Good luck to the Ontario Tower Buzzers this season. Let’s pack the stands and cheer them on!
Earlier this month, my colleagues and I joined Omnitrans to mark an incredible milestone, honoring five decades of keeping our communities connected and moving forward. For 50 years, Omnitrans has helped thousands of residents get where they need to go, whether that's work, school, appointments, or new opportunities across San Bernardino County.
During the event, we reflected on how public transit has shaped our region and supported so many families along the way. This success would not have been possible without the leadership of the Omnitrans Board and the strong partnerships with stakeholders across the county.
Congratulations to Omnitrans on 50 years of service and dedication. The journey has been remarkable, and the road ahead is full of even more possibilities as we continue connecting people and communities for generations to come.
