 Easter Activities Planned This Weekend Throughout the First District
Families across the First District have plenty of opportunities to celebrate Easter weekend with festive, family-friendly events taking place on Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5.
On Saturday, the Phelan/Pinon Hills Community Services District, in partnership with the Phelan Chamber of Commerce and Snowline Joint Unified School District, will host an Easter Egg Hunt at Serrano High School’s football field. Children’s games begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the egg hunt at 10 a.m. for ages 2–10. Families are encouraged to bring baskets and enjoy games, prizes, and Easter gift basket raffles.
Also on Saturday, the City of Victorville will hold its Spring Festival & Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hook Park. The event features egg hunts by age group, a Kids Zone, vendors, food, carnival games, and a special appearance by Peter Rabbit. Pre-registration is required for egg hunts at $5 per child. In Hesperia, the Recreation & Park District’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hesperia Community Park, 10200 Datura Road. The event includes bounce houses, food trucks, vendors, and free photos with the Easter Bunny. Egg hunts begin at 11 a.m. for ages 2-4, followed by staggered times through 12:30 p.m. for older age groups. For details, call (760) 244-5488.
Apple Valley will host multiple events on Saturday, including the Bunny Run at James A. Woody Park (Field #8), with check-in at 7 a.m. and the race starting at 8 a.m. Registration information is available at avrecreation.org. Later that morning, the Town’s annual Eggstravaganza will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at James A. Woody Park, featuring egg hunts by age group, games, and activities. Silver Lakes Recreation invites their community to enjoy Photos with the Easter Bunny on Saturday at Parmelee Field, located at 27256 Peach Tree Lane. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., and attendees will receive a 4x6 photo with an Easter-themed frame for $10 for two. On Sunday, San Bernardino County Regional Parks will host Easter Scavenger Hunts at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, Mojave Narrows, Prado, and Yucaipa Regional Parks. Participants will solve clues to “Crack the Bunny Code,” with prizes for the first 140 participants per session. Admission is $20, and additional details are available at parks.sbcounty.gov.
Also on Sunday, Calico Ghost Town in Yermo (36600 Ghost Town Road) will offer a full day of old-fashioned Easter fun from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including egg hunts, live entertainment, games, a petting zoo, and more. Finally, in Wrightwood, the Timberline Lions and Wrightwood Property Owners Association will host their annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the CSD Community Center (1275 Highway 2), with photos with the Easter Bunny from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The Easter Egg Hunt will follow at Wrightwood Elementary School starting at 10 a.m., with staggered times by age group.
With egg hunts, festivals, races, and community gatherings happening throughout the district, residents have many ways to celebrate Easter close to home!

 Three-Day CERT Course Planned in Phelan
The Phelan–Piñon Hills Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will host a free three-day Basic Training course designed to help residents get involved, get trained, and be ready to respond during emergencies.
The CERT Basic Class will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 10, followed by sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 11 and April 12 at the Phelan Community Center, located at 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.
The training is offered through the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services and is open to community members at no cost.

 'Heroes on the Green' Veteran Golf Outing Planned on April 13 in Apple Valley
The Heroes on the Green Veteran Golf Outing will take place starting at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, at the Apple Valley Golf Course, offering Veterans a day of camaraderie, connection, and outdoor activity.  Adventure Truck to Serve Wrightwood Library Patrons During Remodeling
The San Bernardino County Library’s Adventure Truck is making regular stops in Wrightwood, offering convenient mobile services to the community. The truck is available Mondays and Tuesdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for holds pickup, wireless printing, and craft kit pickup. Residents can place holds in advance at library.sbcounty.gov and pick them up at the truck’s location at 6011 Pine Street in Wrightwood.

 Public Hearing Planned on April 21 Regarding Affordable Housing and Development Needs
A public hearing is planned by the San Bernardino County Community Development and Housing regarding the Draft 2026–27 Annual Action Plan. The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Covington Chambers, 385 N. Arrowhead Avenue, First Floor, San Bernardino.
The plan outlines funding priorities and strategies to address affordable housing, homelessness, and community development needs across the county. Written comments may be submitted to info@cdh.sbcounty.gov by April 17.

It will bring together employers from a variety of industries, including manufacturing, transportation, government, and healthcare, offering attendees the opportunity to connect directly with hiring businesses and explore new career opportunities.  Library's Adult Literacy Program Offers One-on-One Reading & Writing Tutoring
The San Bernardino County Library’s free Adult Literacy Program offers confidential, one-on-one tutoring for adults looking to strengthen their reading and writing skills.
Weekly tutoring sessions are held at local library branches, providing personalized instruction in a supportive, welcoming environment. Services are currently available at the Adelanto Branch (11497 Bartlett Ave., Adelanto), Apple Valley Branch (14901 Dale Evans Parkway, Apple Valley), Barstow Branch (304 E. Buena Vista St., Barstow), and Hesperia Branch (9650 7th Ave., Hesperia).

 Cleanup Planned on April 4-5 in Baldy Mesa
High Desert Keepers’ “Operation Baldy Mesa Part VIII,” a large-scale clean-up effort, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 4 & 5 at Baldy Mesa and La Mesa Road. This is a major event that typically results in the removal of 20 to 30 tons of trash and requires a strong turnout of volunteers, as well as trucks, trailers, and other equipment.  'Roar for Rescue' Adoption Event Planned on Saturday at Devore Animal Shelter
San Bernardino County Animal Care invites the community to its “Roar for Rescue” adoption event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Devore Animal Shelter, located at 19777 Shelter Way in San Bernardino. The event will feature free adoptions, along with opportunities to snap a photo with a new pup and enjoy pup cups and other special treats hosted by Carter High School’s Giving Back Hope Club.
 Wrightwood Planning Spring Fling on May 16
The Wrightwood Chamber of Commerce will host its Spring Fling 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturday, May 16 in Wrightwood. The community event will feature live music, food and beer vendors, and a side-by-side show that includes a flex and articulation contest. All events are free for community spectators. Adelanto Hosting 'Art Walk at the Park'
Adelanto’s Community Art Walk at the Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at Richardson Park, inviting residents and visitors to celebrate creativity and connection through a day of art and community engagement.
The event will feature local artist exhibits including paintings, sculptures, photography, and handmade crafts, along with live art demonstrations that give attendees a chance to see the creative process in action. Guests can also take part in interactive art stations to create their own pieces, while enjoying live music, spoken word, and poetry performances throughout the day. Food trucks and vendors will be on site offering a variety of snacks, drinks, and treats.
