County Prepared as More Rain and Snow Move Into the Region
Southern California is gearing up for one more round of wet weather, as the final storm in a multi-day series is expected to bring widespread rain and fresh mountain snowfall. Snow levels will stay above 6,000 feet, leaving major passes unaffected, but higher elevations could see several inches of accumulation. The storm's slow pace may keep showers around into Saturday before clearer, calmer weather settles in just in time for Thanksgiving week.
San Bernardino County enters this next system with the same strong level of readiness shown during last weekend's storms. Public Works crews remain fully staffed and mobilized, with equipment positioned across all yards for quick response to rain or mountain snow. Road-closure tools like message boards, signs, and K-rails are already in place, and teams continue round-the-clock monitoring to keep residents informed and roadways safe.
As this storm approaches, the County and its partner agencies continue to track conditions closely, and residents can stay as prepared as possible by using the County's available tools. The County's preparedness website provides real-time weather updates, road information, and interactive maps. At the same time, the Ready SB County app delivers emergency alerts and safety tips straight to your phone. Community members can also sign up for the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS) to receive location-specific warnings by call, text, or email. Visit prepare.sbcounty.gov for more information on both services.

Mobile CARE Court Coming to Joshua Tree on December 12
The San Bernardino Superior Court is rolling out a new way to connect residents with mental health support and court services. On Friday, December 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Joshua Tree Courthouse will host a special Mobile CARE Court event featuring the first public appearance of the Court’s brand-new community outreach vehicle, Justice in Motion.
This pop-up event brings key services directly to the Morongo Basin, offering residents an opportunity to receive help without traveling long distances. Community members can meet with staff for assistance with court forms, speak with a judicial officer for on-site CARE Court eligibility reviews, and get guidance from San Bernardino County’s Department of Behavioral Health.
CARE Court is designed for adults living with schizophrenia spectrum or other psychotic disorders who would benefit from a structured, supportive plan that is less restrictive than hospitalization or conservatorship. Eligible participants are typically those who are not stable in voluntary treatment and are likely to benefit from a coordinated CARE plan focused on recovery.
This outreach effort is part of the Court’s ongoing commitment to making services more accessible across the region. For details on this and other upcoming court events, visit sb-court.org. To learn more about the CARE program, visit the Court’s CARE Act information page.

Volunteers Needed for 2026 Point-in-Time Homeless Count
San Bernardino County is seeking volunteers for the 2026 Point-in-Time Count (PITC), the annual countywide effort to document the number of people experiencing homelessness, both sheltered and unsheltered. This year’s count will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Results will help guide federal funding, strengthen local services, and provide a clearer picture of the needs facing our communities.
The PITC utilizes volunteers from every corner of the county, including city and county agencies, law enforcement, nonprofits, faith-based groups, schools, civic clubs, local businesses, and current or formerly homeless individuals. Volunteers will work alongside trained teams to survey individuals in parks, transit hubs, encampments, and other locations, using a secure web-based app to record information while also offering essential supplies and supportive services in real time.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, provide their own transportation, and bring a smartphone or tablet that meets basic technical requirements. Organizers will offer virtual training sessions to ensure all volunteers are prepared for their assigned routes and responsibilities. To register or learn more, visit the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership website or call 909-501-0610.

Child Support Services Expands Virtual Access Countywide
San Bernardino County families now have a more convenient way to meet with Child Support Services. The department has launched a new virtual appointment option at several Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) offices in the High Desert and Morongo Basin, making it easier for parents to get help without long drives or scheduling challenges.
Through this new setup, customers can stop by select TAD locations and connect with a Child Support Services representative through a secure video kiosk. The virtual face-to-face format provides the same level of personal service families expect, but in a location much closer to home.
Virtual appointments are now available at TAD offices in Twentynine Palms, Barstow, Yucca Valley, and Needles during regular business hours. By partnering with existing community offices, the County is reducing travel time, expanding access, and ensuring more families can receive guidance and case support quickly and efficiently.
