Here's a quick roundup from today's San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting:
Fourth District Highlights:
Born and raised in Chino, Steve Wayne Lewis dedicated his life to serving the community through roles on the Planning Commission, Community Services Commission, Design Review Board, and the Chino Youth Museum Board. He was also the IT Support Coordinator at KDC Construction. After a courageous battle with cancer, Steve passed away on September 30, 2035. Supervisor Curt Hagman adjourned today’s meeting in his honor.
During board comments, Supervisor Hagman mentioned:
San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA):
- This fall, SBCTA will begin developing a comprehensive Regional Homelessness Strategic Plan to better align local and regional efforts addressing homelessness.
- Additionally, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) awarded $2.3 million in REAP 2.0 funding to support housing element implementation and provide technical assistance to local jurisdictions.
- SBCTA also recently approved $3.3 million for improvements to the SR 60/Euclid Avenue interchange enhancing traffic flow and safety for commuters across the region.
Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA):
- Ontario International Airport (ONT) continues to soar with new investments and expansions. The airport was recently awarded $10.81 million in FAA grants to support critical infrastructure improvements, including runway repaving and the installation of 24 low-emission energy units to power aircraft while on the ground.
- Travelers will soon enjoy even more connectivity, as Alaska Airlines launches nonstop service between ONT and Boise, Idaho beginning in January 2026.
- ONT is also enhancing its passenger experience with new dining option - Brewery X and Chick-fil-A are both expanding to second locations, which will be opening in Terminals 2 and 4.

Item No. 2 - The Board of Supervisors honored the dedicated service of two county employees by adopting resolutions regarding their retirements:

Item No. 47 - The Board of Supervisors approved an employment contract with Laura Feingold to provide services to the County Counsel's Office as County Counsel.
Item No. 48 - The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing to consider the proposed ordinance granting a revenue franchise to Bear Valley Electric Service, Inc. for 10 years. The final adoption of this ordinance is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, 2025, on the Consent Calendar.
The Board of Supervisors meetings are open for public participation. Public access to the San Bernardino County Government Center is through the west doors, facing Arrowhead Avenue. All members of the public entering the building are required to go through a security scan and then sent directly to the chambers.
