Here's a quick roundup from today's San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting:
Fourth District Highlights:
Item No. 34 - The Board of Supervisors approved an update to its contract with the Chaffey Communities Cultural Center for the Cooper Museum Renovation Project. The change gives the project more time—until November 30, 2025—to allocate its funding, without increasing the original $150,000 budget or changing the overall project timeline.
Item No. 82 - The Board of Supervisors approved a time extension to its agreement with KTU&A Planning and Landscape Architecture for updating the Master Plan for Prado Regional Park. The contract now runs through June 2, 2025, with no increase to the original cost.
Item No. 91 - The Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with the City of Ontario to offer career services to county residents through a Workforce Development satellite office at the Ovitt Family Community Library. The services will be provided at no cost to the city, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028.
Item No. 111 - The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing to discuss creating new Underground Utilities Districts. This includes a proposed project to remove overhead power lines and install underground utilities along a half-mile stretch of Mission Boulevard in Montclair. The goal is to improve public safety and community well-being, with an estimated cost of $4.2 million.
Countywide Highlights:
Item No. 2 -The Board of Supervisors proclaimed the third week of May as Emergency Medical Services Week and adopted a resolution honoring the Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.
Item No. 61 - The Board of Supervisors approved a six-month extension to its grant agreement with UC Davis’ Koret Shelter Medicine Program for the California for All Animals Program. The new contract now runs through December 31, 2025, with no change to the total grant amount of $405,000.
Item No. 63 - The Board of Supervisors approved a $30,000 grant application from the ASPCA for the Rescue Effect Campaign. The funding will support at least two free pet adoption events each month in August, September, and October 2025.
Item No. 112 - The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing to consider a proposed ordinance that would raise the limit for residential wind energy systems from 10 kilowatts to 25 kilowatts, allowing homeowners to generate more renewable energy.
The Board of Supervisors meetings are open for public participation. Public access to the San Bernardino County Government Center is through the west doors, facing Arrowhead Avenue. All members of the public entering the building are required to go through a security scan and then sent directly to the chambers.
